A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief.

The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."

The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.

There's just gotta be a line somewhere.

Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.

The Onion says it has struck a deal to take over Infowars The move would allow the satire site to turn Alex Jones' conspiracist creation into a parody of itself.

NEW: The Onion says it has struck a deal to take over Infowars. That deal still must be approved by a judge. This news was first reported by @pablo.show. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

If there was any year to skip the Met Gala (going to it, covering it, reading about it, and/or looking at the pictures of who wore what), this would be it. Plus Mamdani’s not going, and Bezos is (he and his wife are also sponsoring it this year).

And we are not ending operations. As long as people need whistles--and people still do need whistles!--we will send them. If we have printers who need filament, we will still ask you.

If we hit a point where the need is such that we need to do this again, we will definitely ask for help.

Thank you for all the help you've given us. We've been able to help almost 200 3D printers send nearly 1.5 million whistles to every state in the US.

News from the whistle goblins: We're still accepting requests for whistles, we'll still send em out for free, but we're no longer asking for $ donations, we've got enough to meet the demand and there are better places for your cash to go.

Also: Have you ever wondered why "assistants" like Siri and Alexa have feminine names, while "AI" like Claude and Gemini have masculine names?

Hint: It's not an accident.

Hi, have you eaten something today? Gotten up for a quick stretch? Sent that email or followed up on that important task?

If it feels overwhelming, I find telling myself "just do five minutes" and "perfect is the enemy of good" really helps with momentum.

Stop ‘kids safety’ censorship bills Defending press freedom for the next generation

Congress may pass a set of dangerous "kids online safety" bills that would censor online speech and harm press freedom, while doing little to actually protect children.

Use our action center to tell Congress: No online censorship in the guise of child safety!

What Nobody’s Telling Querying Writers About What’s Happening to Publishing Right Now I’ve started this post four times.

Creators, *this is worth the read*. But, Roaring Brook closing isn't the same as Dial closing. Yes, there were layoffs, but RB is reshuffling & a new imprint is in the works. But the squeeze is real. We've been seeing it and feeling it for years. vickyweberbooks.substack.com/p/what-nobod...

Thank you for posting this! I knew about her and her collection of dandelion crayons, but hadn’t heard that they brought it back and made her the face of it. So cool! Glad that Crayola gave her the credit too. Hope it is a fun experience for her and I hope she’s getting paid too.

p.p.s. I just saw a Google ad pop up. Also saw a whatsapp ad. Not sure who owns the app. I downloaded it years ago. Checking… it says it’s a Mapway app. Not sure who they’re owned by.

I use the NYC Subway app. It’s a bit clunky & has ads, but has subway stops & functions like the paper map. It’s the best I’ve found. p.s. Haven’t used in a while. It’s been updated to new subway map, ugh. p.p.s. New map options including accessible! Click on map pic in upper right to get diff maps.
