I love that Prince is the only person who can make @bbc6music.bsky.social late for the news
Long live Prince Day ✌️🕺

DMs are open and looking for supportive collaborators who want to amplify the petition and tackle LGBTQ+ censorship
Petition: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/76...
- Looking to programme an event for your LGBTQ+ network, I’m collecting letters written to the law Section 28, some which will appear in my film, and I am happy to help setup a writing workshop for your team/company
- Running an event at Pride, and want to support the petition, I’d love to talk to you about how you can share the petition as part of your event, with a QR code and link to the petition
If you are;
- Planning a corporate pride event, I’m really happy to come along and talk about the film I’ve been making and share the research on the impact of Section 28 on my generation
Pink text says: Looking for organisations and groups to collaborate with during Pride
Happy Lesbian visibility week!
If you can help this week and are running an event, or planning something for Pride in June, I'm wondering who’s out there that can help us amplify our petition for a public inquiry in Section 28, and join us to support tackling censorship of LGBTQ+ lives.
Mint looks so good
Turns out today is the day. You legends!
Is today the day we can get to 2000 signatures?
We want a public inquiry into section 28 to understand the impact it had on LGBTQ people
Please share widely and in your networks. The algorithm is strong to not help good things to happen

Thank you for sharing :)
Belarus just passed a law that punishes people for speaking openly about same-sex relationships. Lukashenko hasn't signed yet — but he's expected to. Every signature counts while that window is open. Add your name. a.allout.org/s/v0JQA/
Signed. Sounds familiar, sad to see this going around so many countries at the moment :(
Please can you share petition.parliament.uk/petitions/76...
Let's get a proper look into the damage this law caused
We’ve got a new podcast!
Bad Services is out on the 20th of May, but if you can't wait to get stuck in, we’ve just launched a podcast so you can dive into the book early, and listen along as we talk about each chapter over the next few months.

Sign my petition, let's bring a light to the long term damage this law caused, and protect people in the future from censorship laws

On the record itself the band shout "Clause 29!", which was accurate at the time of recording. Soon after, the bill was changed to Clause 28.

The Alton Bill was a set of laws designed to significantly restrict access to abortion in the United Kingdom. As the song titles suggest, the members of Chumbawamba felt strongly that these movements were not in the best interest of the public.
Chumbawamba's 1988 single was on their Agit Prop Records label. It was a benefit record for the London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard and the Women's Reproductive Rights Campaign.
Boy George's song was an underground acid house hit. In accepting the award for Best British Group from Boy George at the 1989 Brit Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Andy Bell of Erasure kissed Boy George on stage with Bell stating it was an act in protest against Section 28.
Some of the interesting ways Section 28 was protested against was with music.
In 1989 Boy George released No Clause 28
In 1988 Chumbawamba released Smash Clause 28! Fight The Alton Bill!
Protest 40 years later by signing my petition for a public inquiry

We want to learn from the past to show that these laws don't protect children, they harm them.
I was one of them. 100s of people I have interviewed agree.

A list of conutries with LGBTQ+ education censorship laws. Hungary, Florida, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Italy
It might feel a bit like 'What's the point?' but we are seeing censorship rise internationally in carbon copy Section 28 laws around the globe, censoring LGBTQ+ topics and lives inside education.
In the UK a more quiet insidious censoring based on fear of rebuttal and protest.
When we hit 1000 signatures on Friday it was a proper dream, to petition for a public inquiry into Section 28
We want to get to 10000 so we get a response from the Government. Can you help with direct sharing in your newsletter? Whatsapp groups? Posts?

We’re going to call out the wider censorship going on - part of our mission in doing this. More content to come in next few months
#Section28 caused real harm. It erased lives, denied support, and left lasting shame and silence that many are still living with today.
Please sign and share this petition calling for a public inquiry into the impact of Section 28 on #LGBTQ people. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Thanks so much for sharing Heather! Let’s get to 10,000!
If everyone shared and signed we’d get there so quickly!
Do you think we could get 1000 signatures today?
I’m campaigning for a public inquiry into Section 28. A law that banned ‘the promotion of homosexuality’ leading students to grow up in silence and no positive images of lgbtq+ people
