On #ThisDayInHistory in 1988, a #Manchester march against #MargaretThatcher's #homophobia attracted 20,000 participants. #Section28 law made it illegal for any public institution to "promote" homosexuality or teach its "acceptability". The right still uses this bigoted language.

Today, in a very short section of a two hour seminar on queer poetry, I’ll invite my students to make a #blackoutpoem using the text of #Section28 I have the sharpies at the ready. This is my favourite part of teaching this Queer Lit course.
