Some had experience and for some it was their first time. We didn’t teach them anything upfront. Just get into it, find out what you can, choose a tool and model the subtraction problem.

We put the prompt in a shared google doc with a link to Polypad. Nothing formal so don’t have anything to share.

We do that too. I hear from HS teachers they can tell who skipped a grade because they end up with gaps in their understanding. So hard to shift a system entrenched in this practice.

What are your thoughts on a 3 in 2 course in middle school so they don’t skip an entire grade level of content and are subject accelerated by 8th grade?
