I missed this beautiful essay from @lisacheby.bsky.social yesterday, but it is a love letter for those living alone alongside the blaring trope of couplehood. www.rolereboot.org/sex-and-rela...

Wait - the corner of Olympic and Cloverfield, Santa Monica? Ladies and Gentlemen, that is almost exactly the location where the old Buffy offices stood. I believe we may owe thanks for this one to the Hellmouth.

COMMENTARY: Why teacher librarians are critical for students living in an AI-driven world California lawmakers passed laws to improve student literacy in media and artificial intelligence, but without funding to implement these critical skills, students are being shortchanged.

Yes, I am STILL writing about this because it is still needed. @4csla.bsky.social @csunlibrary.bsky.social @edsource.org @aaslala.bsky.social

NOTES ON AN EXCAVATION
Why I Didn't Tell
I didn’t want to be average.
I didn't want it to end.
I was comfortable keeping secrets.
I was afraid of being blamed.
I felt responsible for his acts.
I was numb.
I was told I exuded sex and therefore I must be to blame.
The truth is, I did tell.
I didn't want it to end.
I told an adult.
I grew comfortable with anguish. With hostility.
Tragedy.
I was numb.
That adult has since apologized for his inaction on my behalf, shared with me his fear of the situation, his own newness to the profession at the time.

Not an exaggeration at all to say that the feeling in Minneapolis is that the entire metro area is being treated as occupied territory by federal agents. Impossible to overstate how overwhelmingly people here do not like it. This does not feel sustainable.

AOC: ICE has less accountability than virtually any law enforcement agency in the U.S., yet they are some of the most well-funded, operating with impunity—and we just saw them murder an American citizen in cold blood in the street.

Yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling in Mahmoud v. Taylor imposed a nationwide “Don’t Say Gay” effect—letting parents opt kids out of LGBTQ+ lessons and pressuring schools to erase queer voices.
