Slide says "From Bars to Bytes" 1. Hip Hop, at it's core, is a technoscientific art form and cultural practice. 2. Hip Hop is a site of technological innovation primarily driven by the artistic practices of people of color. 3. The concept of authenticity functions as a useful cultural heuristic that defines the limit of technology. 4. Within Hip Hop, technology, specifically AI, is a tool that can aid in author (lyrics), producer (sounds), artists (performances), and is not something that will supplant the author, producer, or artist. 5> Positing AI as a tool that may extend human creativity and not replace it can potentially move people away from the unproductive polarities of irrational exhuberance and damning pessimism about AI. As a result, Hip Hop can tell us a great deal about the processes by which societies and cultures should interweave technologies, like AI, into our existence.
