Not that it matters to me. There's an excellent independently-owned coffee place called Bernie's a couple blocks away that's superior anyway.

Phil sold it to a private equity firm back in August. (Freeman Spogli, may as well name-and-shame these morons.) It took almost no time for 'private equity' to fuck up a local-institution-made-good. They truly stepped on their own dicks.
I live above a Philz Coffee, and the Pride flag thing was a complete unforced error. I was going to go wrap the trees on our sidewalk in Pride banners, but I see one of my neighbors got started without me. Good job, Noe Valley neighbor! I'm still going to (independent) Bernie's Coffee instead.
Their stated "reason" was that removing the flags and homogenizing the stores made them "more inclusive," which is some gaslighting bullshit. Inclusive for whom, bigots? "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength, and Removing Pride Flags is Inclusive!" Sure, pull the other one.
There's 1 week left to watch The Rip so the production crew can get those bonuses. (Artists Equity worked out a deal with Netflix that the entire crew gets bonuses if it meets certain streaming goals in its first 90s days.) Also, I liked the tightly-scripted action-flick. #Postchat #theRip #Netflix
My parents did much the same seeing Boy George and Culture Club on Solid Gold for the first time. And I (being an MTV addict at 11 years old) was able to tell them just who and what that was.
1) Dreadful cash-in on Chuck Norris' 80s fame.
2) Russel Mulcahy was, for a hot minute, a directorial god.
3) Lee Marvin singing? This is goddamn brilliant.
4) Classic that made me want to watch Lee Marvin sing.

I'm not sure I knew it was Peckinpah until recently. I had it in my re-watch queue for a while, but it suddenly shuffled up (free) on some random service called "Movie Vault." They have others I've been meaning to see or re-see as well: "McCabe and Mrs Miller" and "Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean."
Slow film week for me, but I do wax nostalgic for Sam Peckinpah's underrated opus "The Ballad Of Cable Hogue."

Reads like my week. "Yeah, yeah, yeah...ooh, damn. That's a choice."
Image of four posters for the films Nirvanna the band the show the movie, For A Few Dollars More, Manhunter, and In The Name Of The King.
Typical week for me. One brand new banger, two all-time classics, and one best forgotten. #letterboxd #lastfourwatched #filmfriday #filmsky
Sorry, "a rat" in the middle. It's that "a" before the "rat" that is tough to remember.
I was helped when somebody pointed out there is a "rat" in the middle of "separate." "Bureaucracy" will is now vanquished as well. Thx!
Is the bobsled just competitive leaning? #olympics
Thank you. Couldn’t see it and no chance of a rewind in this bar.
I've had a long career in video production (editor), and I can assure you, I started working _behind_ the camera because I have no desire to be in front of the camera. So we don't get a pass either, sadly.
Boston also has weather that's actively trying to kill you. CA has a more visible housing crisis because you can live on the street here without dying in a snow drift.
Attn: Noe Valley folk. There's a fellow out in front of @fireflysf.bsky.social today, (Sat, 6/31) doing pro-grade knife-sharpening on a wheel-thingy. It was inexpensive enough we went home and brought back a second load of dull-ass knives to get honed. He's there until 4pm.
Nah, I had the same thought but quakebots say 3.9 or something in San Ramon.
Sometimes I distract myself from the endless shitshow of the day's news by writing reviews of hokey action movies. To wit, today's exploration of what Tom Berenger has been up to lately: letterboxd.com/malderor/fil... #elrey #elreynetwork #letterboxd #badactionmoviereview
I feel like we all have differing definitions for "personal use."
Sort of. It's actually been on the ballot 3 times since the turn of the century, and all 3 times the billionaires have spent MILLIONS campaigning against it. They argue that the poor benighted local gubmint couldn't possibly run a complicated utility, and somehow it loses. Like, could we do worse?
And we still haven't made these incompetent dipshits a public utility...why? (Also "we cracked a bunch of glowsticks left over from, I don’t know, a rave?" made me laugh aloud.)
Looking at you @suedehq.bsky.social
Bands: on behalf of DJs the world over, please do NOT print your vinyl albums on clear vinyl. That shit is impossible to see. (The track breaks you *think* you see here are actually on the other side of the record.)
And here I thought performing at the Riyadh Comedy Festival was the low point in Kevin Hart's career. #worldcupdraw
Jesus Christ. Just when I thought #FIFA couldn't get any more awful and corrupt, they invented a damn "FIFA peace price" to award to somebody they wanted to pander to? (Take a wild guess who.) Thanks, I'm tuning out of this BS. #worldcupdraw
A baby harp-seal walks into a club...
Well, I've tried 3 "real" prompts from a recent job. They were shocked I wasn't getting usable footage from their AI garbage. They were generating it and handing it to me unviewed, and couldn't believe it was 100% crap. All 3 times this has also failed with no explanation, w/no clips offered at all.
