The trailway here in Gander is actually pretty awesome. Paved from one side of town to the other. I would love to use it but it would add time to my commute cause of where I live. If I'm going for an actual bike ride, it's most likely where I'll end up.

I'm also a bit lucky that when I bike to / from work in the morning it's before most of the traffic is out. Not so much luck in the evening.
yeah I'm not sure I would bike in St John's, sadly. Or I would take my bike elsewhere and bike.
I wouldn't call Gander unsafe, but I stick to side streets and walking paths as much as possible. It just takes one dumb dumb.
It would be like the hockey coverage to take a pop song that I don't actually mind that much, and play it every 5 seconds every commercial break so that I am going to 100% hate it by the end of the 1st round, let or alone by the end of the playoffs.
Somewhat similar to my watch marking me down for a nap when I play chess :P
Useless endeavor here, might get buried again in a couple of days. Every day it snows it delays the forest fire season, so I'm not that upset. I usually get annoyed if it snows once everything has turned green.
hah! The fire pit has finally popped out the snow pack in our back yard. That's a win.
No signs of winter left out that way.
The times I have visited elsewhere in early June I've not regretting it though hah. Hey, so this is what Spring is supposed to be like huh? Neat.
I will just use the time to enjoy working on trail work while not completely sweating like a glass of ice water in the sun... and no bugs yet.
That's the other option in lieu of just clenching your way through it.
Solar halo! #nlwx
I think you'll find it's good value per pound.
Of course, that might be the problem in the 3-5 days after the end of this gif, as it seems we'll be into what looks like classic "NL Spring" and northeasterlies. A bit early to be locking that in for the long haul, but probably a good time of year to start warming your RDF tolerance muscles. #nlwx
We're poised to lose a lot of snow over the next 3 days, especially Sun and Mon where it will be above 10 C and windy. However, most models are showing some flavour of this nonesense for next week. So maybe two steps forward, one step backwards, but don't worry, Spring is definitely winning. #nlwx
I guess it's a fun lesson in air density?
He only went to Epstein's house for directions on how to get away from Epstein's house...
"what are those things coming out of her nose...?"
Apparently it's been 18 days since I last skied, which seems crazy to me, I coulda been up to 30 by now, but this makes 22. Trails are doing surprisingly well given the current #nlwx. Reminds me of the time I went out on May 1 in 2017, soft but lots of glide. Might soon be time for disc golf though!
@pitchingninja.com A thought just crossed my mind watching the ump miss a call then get one right. Do you think the umps might actually get better at calling the strikezone now that they have all this new data forced onto them? We're basically calibrating them so to speak... Unless you're C.B....
I just realized it's past April 15th, and therefore I can now cheer on the demise of the snow pack. Especially after my walk last evening where I wore the wrong boots and kept falling through the packed down trail... I had to break out my summer hikers early to have dry feet this morning. #nlwx
Important to note... I did not have a snow blower back then, and this was 3 days after the previoius dump of 60+ cm of snow, which the shovelling looked awfully similar.
Funny, was just going through old pictures I was able to save during a recent hard drive crash and came across these doozies from Apr 4th 2017. Note the snow clearing began during daylight and ended well after nightfall. So for those #nlwx folks tired of Winter... just remember, it could be worse!
Works really well, though I have to modify it to a half roll cause the full roll doesn't fit in my sized solo stove. I was using birch bark before and it works but can get dicey if it doesn't wanna burn down into the rest of the kindling. This seems to work very well, probably cause it's oberkill.
Also got to test out new fire starter idea. Take the leftover toilet paper rolls, put a small piece of kindling in it with a long strip of birch bark that extends 2 to 4 inches beyond either side. Plug each side with a vasoline soaked cotton ball, then you can lite the birch strip like a fuse.
Another beautiful #nlwx day for #TeaByTheSeaInTheTrees: Gander Lake edition. This trail hasn't gotten as much use as others this winter, the snow is pretty deep. Busted through and it swallowed my whole leg at one point. I heard some Ruby-crowned kinglets warming up the first half of their songs.
The juncos were on and off all week, but I've heard them more consistently the last 3 days. Robins I only hear singing last week, but hearing the alarm calls more frequently now. Now we wait for the chickadees and kinglets to join in.
This is not an #nlwx complaint, but it kinda feels odd to be in early April and have us hit 8 C on a grey cloudy day. I'd wager it's at least a bit unusual. Either way. #TeaByTheSea: Cobb's Pond edition. Nice to hear the robins and juncos singing a bit.
I guess you can't pass any planes on this section...
