It is with an incredibly broken heart that I share that Alister did not make it. He developed many small clots post surgery and was simply unable to recover. I know I'm not the only one who's going to miss him. We are eternally grateful for all support and love

Obsessively listened to Dungeon Crawler Carl last month! But did manage a few other things as well #julywrapup #booksky #readingrecs #audiobookrecs
I was warned it was very different, which I think helped with my expectations
Oh this is just a snapshot of last month! But my two 5 star this month were Dungeon Crawler Carl and Winter Counts

Beautiful day in San Diego!
Clearly government "savings" and "efficiency" are more important to this administration than basic, life saving services to some of our most vulnerable citizens. Shame.

This is what Trump and Musk are doing during a measles outbreak.
Today, 10,000 staffers were fired at CDC—including measles and bird flu experts—while dozens of free vaccination clinics were canceled in Texas.
These billionaires don’t seem to care that children will die from their cruel cuts.
Got a couple of outstanding works of fiction in with all the fantasy this month. Not just my highest reading month ever, but a good one overall #booksky #marchreadingwrap
In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
Just finished reading Human Acts by Han Kang. Literally no surprise she won the 2024 nobel prize in lit. Moving and brilliant and important. In the face of rising authoritarian and right wing movements, it's these personalized histories that become so crucial to moving forward

Not the greatest reading month mostly cause 2 romantasy series I read really could not follow through with their promise on book 3. But still a couple of standouts overall

This is absurd and these harmful attacks on science need to be stopped.
You really do.

California: In 2024, 13 schools received more than $10 million in NIH grants, for a total of $3.7 billion. Of that, $2.4 billion went directly to research and $1.3 billion went to facilities and administration. The new rate would bring that to $350 million, a loss of about $900 million.
