Genuine privilege to be at Australia vs USA tonight - an absolutely cracking game of rugby.
The players put in a huge shift afterwards meeting and chatting with fans. Particular props to a hurting Samantha Wood, who nonetheless did the rounds and had a little natter with us. Did herself proud.

ARL 44 tanks during the Bastille Day parade
The ARL 44 medium tank was envisioned in 1944 as a way for France to return to tank design after a hiatus during German occupation. This tank was shown to the public #OTD in 1951 during the Bastille Day parade. #tanks #history
Title page of Aeroplane's Database feature on the Trislander, promising '13 in-depth pages' and 'words by Matthew Willis' with a beautiful air to air shot of an Aurigny Trislander over the Guernsey coast
Realisation of a dream! Aeroplane finally let me do a massive in-depth look at one of the most offbeat airliners of the modern era - the Britten-Norman Trislander

Captured Tiger II tank
The Germans were unsatisfied with the reliability of the King Tiger, particularly its gearbox. Bench trials of the PP33 gearbox that would be able to handle the tank's bulk were completed successfully #OTD in 1944, but it was never installed in a real tank. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

In case you run into a Tiger today, this is how to do it.

The bossman himself: the M4A3E2 Sherman “Jumbo” assault tank, this one upgunned with the M1A1C 76mm gun instead of the usual M3 75mm I’ve always found it interesting that the Jumbo never got HVSS, with the prevailing argument was that the VVSS with duckbills was proficient enough— a minor fact which flew in the face of Patton stringent opposition to the practice in the Third Army.
A battered M4A3 (75)W. Not the single piece transmission cover, the M34A1 mantlet, the early high bustle T26 turret and T48 rubber chevron track.
M4 (105) assault tank. This howitzer armed example is rocking the field expedient “bocage buster” of the Culin type. No clue on the providence of said device, if it’s an original or reproduction. Note the M52 howitzer gun mantlet.
An early M4. See the 57° slope of the front glacis vs. the steeper 47° degree of later versions. This one, like many of this type, had appliqué armor welded in front of the driver and bow gunner bulges, as well as over the sponson plate. Also notable is the presence of the antenna mount to the left of the bow gunner, the early 3-part transmission cover and the low bustle turret. This tank is marked as the battalion commander’s tank of the 2nd battalion, 69th armor regiment.
We start our third NAACC post with the Sherman Show with host M4A3E2, guest starring: the M4A3 (75)W! Musical guest featuring the M4 (105), and special guest M4!
#OTD in 1944, Italy. "The first German Panther tank to be captured intact. With its 75mm gun, it has been considered to be the Germans' most successful tank." #WW2 #HISTORY
An AMX-30- the best looking French tank since the SAMUA S35. No, that isn’t my opinion: it’s fact and I will not be taking rebuttals thank you.
The Strv 103 topping out with a total height equal to the top of the hull of the AMX next to it. My son said “it’s got a shooter but no tower!” Perceptive lad he is.
No, it’s not an M60 AVRE (we don’t have Royal Engineers, sir). It’s an M728 combat engineer vehicle sporting a 165mm M135 mortar. My son said “it’s a construction vehicle that does war!”
Moving on to some Cold War examples. This period of Le Siècle Blindée really was the Wild West of tank design.
Great pics and amazing collection!
May Memorial Day be whatever you need it to be. A day of remembrance, memorial, sharing of the past, or even just reconnection. Take care of yourself and others please. All the best from an aging USMC vet.
A tank a day makes the day better. Today’s pic is of an Italian M13/40. This example is in the US ArmyArmor and Cav Collection at Fort Benning. Pic #3 in a series.
A tank a day makes the day better. Today’s pic is of a M48 from the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. Pic #2 in series.
A tank a day makes the day better. Today’s pic is of the only remaining T2 Medium tank. Currently residing at the Armor and Cav collection at Fort Benning.
I don't typically post YouTube content, and you can skip through the video (it's kind of long), but you need to see what this Chinese indy watchmaker is doing with these movements. This is #horology at its 2025 best:

All look amazing and all look like the would have an accompanying edm anthem.
Love this shot of our DH9 alongside the Bristol Fighter from Shuttleworth this weekend. They at least *look* like two peas in a pod 😂
Yes, I do require one of these. £10k
I finally made it to Saumur a week ago. It was worth the wait. A museum of the old school with just stuff to look at. This Panhard EBR was a definite favourite.

On this day, in 1800, the Library of Congress was established. Containing 178 million items, it is currently the world's second largest library. It is also the most visited library in the world, and is one of LibraryThing's top cataloging sources. 💙📚
