If they had just called this “The Entities” instead of “Large low-shear-velocity provinces”, kids would be more into Seismology.

(The two entities are named Tuzo and Jason).

Google Starts Scanning All Your Photos As New Update Goes Live Google wants its AI to see all the photos of "you and your loved ones." Billions of users must now decide.

“Take a moment to think before you dive in. That’s the best advice for Google Photos users, as the company confirms its latest update can scan all your photos to “use actual images of you and your loved ones” in AI image generation.”

My mom passed away last summer. I'm not Catholic anymore but I for sure brought her prayer card with me into Artemis Mission Control.

So, thanks Mom, for encouraging my self-expression. Not everyone loves it and she helped me work through those situations too. 💕

She later told me that other moms were appalled, that I was ruining my chances for highschool and then for college. She looked at them and said, my daughter gets straight As, has amazing friends, comes home at night and loves her family. Why would I care what her hair looks like? Why do YOU?

This was 1983 in suburbia. This was not common. I rocked that look in jr high. I grew out a front tail and dyed it. I double pierced one ear at Claires in the mall. Mom helped me not f it all up.

My mom dyed her hair blonde for decades using Nice-n-Easy at home. One day when I was in the 7th grade, I was sitting with her in the bathroom as she was doing it, and I asked her if she would dye a blond streak in my hair. She was the kind of mom who didn't hesitate. She was into it.

Realistically there are people in society who will not take you seriously and they will use your hair (jewelry, tattoos, clothing, hobbies, etc.) as an excuse but it is just that. There are also kind, generous, smart people who see self-expression as creativity and strength.

Victor Glover on Artemis II crew dynamics:

“Yes, we get along well, but we ALSO disagree well.”

Love this framing! I tend to approach disagreements with an open mind for resolution, but I like this slight pivot in mindset.

Artemis II: a planetary perspective for a new generation Artemis II’s striking images of Earth from lunar distance revive awe in space exploration while revealing our planet as a fragile, borderless world that calls for shared responsibility, argues Ian Cra...

"There are no political borders visible from space, and such borders have no objective meaning in a planetary context."
