Didn’t realize my feature request was fulfilled! Cartridge support, loads quick! It’s a convenient & modern way to convert C64 save states to something permanent/physical, or via flash cart. Completely skips the slow disk boot time. github.com/tommyo123/Vi...

loved this game as a kid! “gee that’s too bad” was a running joke in the family, we played it so much.

Thanks for sharing! I managed to get this to work with the even cheaper Sony PCGA-DVD51 DVD drive that the readme mentions.

At a store, want to know a price, but the scanner kiosks were removed. Sign said to use their app. Okay? Download the app, scan the item I’m holding, but it’s “out of stock” with no price! Amazon app had no problem, added to cart. Never thought a brick-and-mortar would actively promote showrooming.

Were you also watching MeTV Toons? As soon as I heard that theme, I immediately turned it off.

I was originally excited about ATSC 3.0, even provided valuable feedback to station engineers with incorrect implementations... until DRM forced me to revert to 1.0, which is unusable during severe weather. So thanks DRM, no one will be pirating your life saving information. 💀

"This is the first:" The 16 year odyssey of "time, money, wrong turns and frustration" it took to finally emulate the Pioneer LaserActive In April 2009, a Sega fan decided to look into emulating the Mega LD, a quirky and little-known hybrid of Genesis and LaserDisc. This week he finished the job.

This story of one coder's 16-year effort to make an emulator for a largely forgotten laser disc video game system is a fun reminder of the mountains people will climb simply "because it's there."

Love when I leave myself breadcrumbs from 25yrs ago.

With the new Commodore reboot I started wondering if I could do something with the piles of C64DTV chips I'm hording. Totally forgot I had already planned HDMI/digital video interfaces.

It’s good knowing someone else tried similar steps, I was maybe heading in the right direction. Before the disassembly I didn’t get anywhere, so thank you for that. Displaced Gamers’ YouTube series dealing with these issues helped me understand more, so I should revisit it.

I kind of remember that almost worked changing this. Slow frame rate, but it wasn’t stable. It kept crashing. I would’ve been happy if it was slow but stable, then I could look for any optimizations. But again, I don’t know what I’m doing.

That is exactly was what I was trying to figure out myself, but maybe I didn’t go low enough. If the viewport could be shrunk, that would have been my other hope for optimization. Storing some kind of optimized math routines in ROM would be my next guess, but also beyond my abilities.

Oh lol, I already took a stab at it with your documented version, but I had no idea what I was doing. I’m impressed you got it to work at all on NTSC, and would love to just try the terrible frame rate version on my NES (and see what changes you made!). At least it wouldn’t look all glitchy.

11 months ago 0 0 1 0

Hey, the NES version is 6502, right? Bonus points if you get it to work on NTSC, it thinks too hard during VBlank.
