Perusing the Hugo noms and glad I'm going to be pushed to read some stuff I've been meaning to, and some of my noms got through! 🎉 Calling it now though that my least favourite novel is going to win, same as last year.

While I understand the health motivation for this, and I really do, I remain deeply uncomfortable about the idea that we can create a subsidiary group of adults who don’t have all the same freedoms as other adults (yes, even to chose to do stupid dangerous shit). 1/2

I'm making one last push to let people know about this online talk -- sponsored by the British Library in conjunction with their current exhibition on fairy tales. The live stream starts at 7:30 tonight, but if you buy a ticket *before* the event you can watch it any time over the next 7 days.

My first long bit of writing was fanfic of a kid's series about chemistry teacher Morgan Swift. She rode a motorbike, helped on archaeological digs, and had rock stars fall in love with her. I've never met anyone who has heard of these books let alone read them so think that would class as niche!
Offer ends on the 30th!
Someone in the office has perfume so strong I can smell it from the other side of the room and someone else is humming and whistling 😭
Illustration: a black cat sits on a mantel above a fireplace, pushing a small vase off. Before him is a scene of absolute carnage which he clearly caused. A flat screen tv lies screen down on the floor. There is a smashed vase with scattered flowers. A lacerated cushion with its stuffing spilling out. An upturned footstool. Smashed picture frames. Caption reads “cataclysm”
“Ah you’re home. Like what I’ve done with the place?”

The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery We are delighted to announce that The Friends of The Potteries Museums & Art Gallery, helped by generous public donations, have raised £10,000 towards the acquisition Ellastone Dress Fastener. Thank you everyone who has donated towards this fantastic milestone. We are now closing this strand of the funding campaign.
Some great news - thank you to everyone who contributed their hard earned cash!
(Just a reminder that had the finder/ landowner donated the dress fastener, it would have cost £0 instead of £150,000...)

A large white waterfowl with orange feet stands in front of a door. On the door is a cardboard sign secured with tape that reads, "DO NOT LET THE DUCK IN." Adding insult to injury, I think the duck might be a goose.
Whatever you do,
I'm so sorry 💜 internet hugs from me if you would like them 🫂
A digital illustration of two japanese lesbians flirting in a queer underground bar in the 80s. One of them wears a blue jacket, the other a suit, while in the background there's liquor and a multitude of little stickers and illustrations of lesbian and queer marks.
The full illustration I did for @taplingzines.bsky.social "We've Always Been Here"
The zine depicts queer couples throughout cultures and history and I had the honours of portraying a Japanese lesbian couple in an underground bar during the 80s✨

Tim Curry in Muppet Treasure Island
Happy 80th birthday to Tim Curry who has always, *always* understood the assignment.
L: A young W B Yeats wearing pince nez and a large bow tie. R: A middle-aged Aleister Crowley wearing a large (possibly homburg) black hat and the ‘I’m mad, me’ expression that he always put on for photos
Ah! 19 April – 126th anniversary of the day William Butler Yeats kicked Aleister Crowley downstairs as they fought for control of the British branch of the not-at-all-ridiculous Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in the Battle of Blythe Road. According to legend, anyway... 🧵
My laptop that has been struggling for a while had a catastrophic failure today so I have given up and ordered a new one. Did not need that expense but I have had the old one since 2018 so I suppose it's not done too bad. And now, hopefully, I can play Baldur's Gate 3!
putting how useless Kezia is signalling she’s going to be in charge of Stonewall, it’s wild for The Guardian to describe the charity losing half its income for supporting trans rights as if it was something that happened organically and not as part of a massive hate campaign they took part in
Photo of Pedro Pascal wearing a dark grey blazer and loosely tied necktie, paired with short blue denim jorts. He is holding some cream coloured roses in one hand and the other is over his crotch where he has suggestively tucked his index finger into his fly. You’re welcome.
I might be misreading things but it feels like the timeline could use a picture of Pedro Pascal in little shorty jorts

A great turn out for the Aberdeen Unity March this morning. Community standing up for the city against hatred.
Fran is on! 🎉🎉🎉
Heartened to see how many people turned up for the anti racist march today - definitely more than for St Andrew's Day in November.
Rhoooooonnnnaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Oh wow am I glad I wound back to the start! What an exciting opening 3 minutes!
I am here, with coffee and rugby and aww it looks so busy 🥹🤩! #AsOne 🏴
I went last year to see them play Wales and it was so fun, I don't know why I didn't book for this year!
I wish I was there at Murrayfield watching the women play in the big stadium rather than the Hive, and in front of a record crowd. Next year I am definitely going to go to a Six Nations!
