Did you know the Mercury’s monthly issues are now delivered via electric cargo trikes?
Today, we rode along with B-Line from SE Portland to downtown see the delivery of the new transportation issue.

Not sure whose great idea it was to have a sign saying “Touch here to open door” when in fact that is not how the door opens 🙃
The @portlandmercury.com transportation issue is out today, in print and online! I edited this one (with the help of my amazing colleagues) and am very proud of it. Check it out for important transpo news, features on bike racing and skateboarding, and much more!! 🚲🚊🛹🛼

Did OregonDOT submit the new $15 billion estimate of the cost of the Interstate Bridge Replacement Project via text message? That's what this message seems to be warning about:
The Fried Egg Workes Union is calling for a community boycott through May 5th to put pressure on their employer to bargain in good faith. Follow them on Instagram @friedeggwu to keep up to date with their demands and future actions.
A word from our sponsor…
Sandwiches.
A single sandwich is one of the most efficient code generation power sources.
• Environmentally friendly!
• Supports multiple industries!
• Creates jobs!
• Doesn’t drive up costs for community!

Rhine–Lafayette Overcrossing will probably be the one, but the (sidewalks) on the MLK & Grand viaducts can also be surprisingly useful depending exactly which way you’re headed.

Yeah that was a real head-scratcher. Burnside and Morrison bridges are right there, no need to muck up the most concentrated transit bottleneck in the region.

H/T to @techworkerscoalition.org!
Yep! Reading it for a different book club, actually 😅
Wife, who has a book club with some friends: “Hey, we’re thinking of letting spouses join the book club, as long as you don’t pick books that are too niche.”
Me, looking up from a book about communists in 1930s Alabama: “I would never.”

I used to take this bus once upon a time, but really it was more of a process of elimination than recognition 😅
I used to take this bus, sorta — almost 15 years ago when it was the #89 bus, before it was split into the #47 and #48. The #47 route has been altered a fair bit since then, though.
Your reminder to go ride bikes with your friends.
It's great!
As you make your weekend plans, don’t forget about our Portland Art Museum tour on Sunday! See details below ⬇️ Hope to see you there!

if they’re going to build a shorter functional bridge and go back for freeway expansion money later that’s a win, but if they’re going to build a full size bridge that’s unusable without the entire project being completed then this is really bad

great now let’s do rose quarter and build some caps without doubling the width of the freeway and save another couple billion we can spend on sidewalks and transit
Read this news while literally on the I-5 bridge, on a local C-TRAN bus to connect to the MAX!
Looking forward to having a direct Portland–Vancouver MAX connection and saving many billions of dollars along the way.
