Do you ever pick up a book that you haven't read in a long while and start reading it, and chuckle a bit. Then you remember how much you like that one character, and the plot makes you smile... And then you're all like, "Oh! Yeah! I wrote this!"

“Was that guy dresses as a leprechaun?” Buc raised his finger to shush Clay, looking round as he did. “Don't say the L word,” Buc advised. “What?” he mouthed back. “They find it insulting.” Clay’s brow scrunched up, and he looked back at the short man, he was after all dressed in a green suit with black boots and buckles! “Please tell me he doesn't dress like that all the time,” Clay questioned. “That was Seamus O'Leary, the idiot thinks he's a pixie,” Scarlet interrupted, as she poured a drink. “He is!” Buc piped up. “I've seen his pot of gold.” Clay rolled his eyes, picked up his beer and walked away from the bar. “Hey, where you going?” Buc called after. “As far away from you as possible.” Buc got up and followed. “But I’ve not told you about the wolves yet...” he pleaded. “Or the Vamp...” “Enough!” Clay shouted back. “Look I'm only around for a few days I just wanna make peace with myself and try and understand why my dad walked out on us. I don't have time for stories about mythical and fantasy creatures!” Buc stood there looking at Clay, he nonchalantly took a swig of beer and scowled at him. “Colt Bauer wouldn't walk away!”

The study is about websites, but we've observed something similar on @askhistorians.bsky.social where we've gotten an deluge of overly saccharine, "fellow-kids" type bots over the last month. The team bans dozens of these things every day.

This was my first thought too. But I have listened carefully to those who are upset and I understand their points. I support my writing with a day job, so $12 USD is doable for me. I understand that many are facing a tough choice now.

This feels like one of those "if you can read this" brain tests. Love it.
