I was having trouble with the idea of quitting Goodreads because I have been using it for so many years. I just noticed the read dates are gone for a bunch of my books and they are in "to read". Defeats the point.

I used Storyworth in 23 and I'm back now. It's so much better

Yeah I've stayed away too. We've known since 50 shades that lots of people love toxic relationships. Didn't read that one either but I read enough reviews to know I would not finish.

Yeah, I've mostly learned to spot the popular reads I would hate.

Text reads: when you are finally reading a popular book and it's really really bad
Image shows a person with chin length messy hair with an intense expression of utter confusion

It's happened a few times, I don't judge

Yeah, I cancelled after being subscribed for several years. I am down to Libby (library) and Audible but I really wish there were more subscriptions where I can borrow multiple titles for a flat fee. I don't need to own most of what I read/listen.

Leonard Peltier has been imprisoned since 1976. Allow him the dignity to live his remaining years with his family.

Even the U.S. Attorney who put him there agrees.

President Biden should grant him clemency.

* Book cover for "The Round House" by Louise Erdrich.

**Longer version:**

* A book cover image for "The Round House" by Louise Erdrich. The cover features a gray background with scattered, abstract, reddish-brown shapes resembling shards or fragments. The title, "The Round House," is displayed in large, stylized white text, with the author's name, "Louise Erdrich," in smaller white text below. A gold National Book Award Winner seal is prominently placed on the cover.

This has been on my list for a long time. It was a good day to start it. It was a cool surprise to find out the audiobook was narrated by Gary Farmer, who was in from Reservation Dogs.

There's probably a really high chance you had other adults who did play that role. If you are not able or motivated to do things for broader societal validation, bad autism therapists likely would not have changed that.

They also compromise so much to comply with rigid NT rules, and then when they struggle they are told to be more flexible. 😔

I don't know if it's resistance to change, but I don't like this Everand plan restructuring.

Every time you look something up and it turns out to be a premium title, you are tempted to upgrade your plan and you can't switch back.

Yes, I use a library app too.

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

Ooh I got this one. Look at flat socks. They don't really help with warmth but they are kind of like washable insoles.

There are healthcare subsidies set to expire next year. This bill in the Senate would make them permanent.

Please contact your senator and tell them if you care about healthcare protections.

Legends and Lattes is a comfort read, The Lies of Locke Lamora is much darker but really good.

A cutting board costs me $75 – it might cost you $10. What to know about the ‘disability tax’ Research shows disabled people need at least 28% more income than non-disabled people for a similar living standard

#DisabilityTax

“The reality is that it is expensive to be disabled. Research shows that disabled people need at least 28% more income, at least $17,690, to achieve a standard of living similar to that of non-disabled people.”

Is there hope to move this along before the end of the year?

I do like seeing the "20 books that stayed with you" challenge, but I feel like I'm missing information because I want to know what part was significant. I'm nervous to do it myself because 20 days in a row feels like something I will likely fail. Executive functioning is like the muse sometimes.

I like this one better than the 20 books. I don't know blasphemous knave but we share two authors

I am a neurodivergent parent of teenagers who posts about books, fiber arts, policy advocacy (disability+) and might also post about neurodiversity affirming parenting and intersectional issues.

Usually the biggest problem is that the last stitch doesn't look like a stitch. So it ends up being an uneven edge. It helps to make something small like a washcloth so it's easy to go back. Almost certainly, it will become relaxing if you stick with it long enough. 🧶🤎

I picked this up and I thought it's Isabel Allende, it's not going to be bad. Then I saw the bad reviews.
I agree it's not her best but considering it's outside her usual, it's quite good so far, 70% in.
She writes teens way more realistically than Steven King.

I Will Die On This Hill There is a significant divide between autistic advocates and parents of autistic children. Parents may feel attacked for their lack of understanding, and autistic adults who offer insight and guidance...

This is non fiction. One of the two co authors is autistic and many more contributors as well.
