One of the many highlights of the event was a session on school libraries and we watched this short video on what having a library (and an excellent librarian!) means to some of the kids:

I chaired a short panel on the partnership within Leicestershire between the county's three universities and local public libraries that allow members of the public to use academic spaces and resources.
Last week I was proud to represent @rluk.ac.uk at the lauch of the Libraries Alliance - a new cross-sector group amplifying the voice of libraires in the UK.
There is a great write-up of the event by Deborah Maclaren www.lovereading.co.uk/blog/launch-...
It was very disappointing to see Jisc withdraw support for Publications Router (especially at such short notice), but at least the code has been released:

Love the concept of "Stewardship as civic commitment" that @lyndamk.bsky.social discussed in her RLUK26 keynote about the @datarescueproject.org. Definitely something to extend everywhere we have skills, interests, and concerns! youtu.be/nlyIDEaOOlU?...
Incredibly excited to share the news that we will be working more closely with @openbookcollective.bsky.social!
Thanks so much to @davidprosser.bsky.social for inviting me and to Ed Fay for asking great questions at #RLUK26. I really enjoyed the conversation and talking about the successes and challenges of our work across the #DataRescue community and the @datarescueproject.org
Both looking so fresh-faced!
RLUK's new principles call for collective funding, not-for-profit governance protected from commercial acquisition, bibliodiversity, and transparency. For us here at the OBC, these principles are at the core of our operating model. 📚 #OpenAccess #DiamondOA
🆕 As part of the Advancing Long-form Open Access Practice Project - a joint ARMA, RLUK & SCONUL initiative funded by UKRI - we are seeking members to join an exchange of experience network.

A reminder that #CILIP's guide: Managing safe and inclusive public library services provides public library staff with a clear decision-making framework to deal with challenging issues. It also includes references to good practice for school libraries: www.cilip.org.uk/page/safe-and-inclusive-guide

A lovely evening at UCL celebrating the life of Paul Ayris and the publication of his new book. Tinged with sadness as we know how much he would have loved the party

Here’s video of the panel I was on at #R2RConf about infrastructure to support research. My 2 main points were a) libraries are the ultimate research-supporting infrastructures and b) (with my DOAJ hat on) funders have to support the infrastructure that they rely on

We’re 100 today.
On 17 March 1926, the University of Reading was granted its Royal Charter.
Now, we wake up 100 years later as a global university, shaped by generations of students, staff, alumni and partners who have built something extraordinary together.
Happy 100th anniversary to us. #UoR100
It's the final week to register your place for the #RLUK26 Conference (virtual).

Haven really enjoyed the TV version of Leonard and Hungry Paul I turned to the equally enjoyable book. Although I think I did them the right way round -the excellent TV performances added depth to the characters

It’s the result of massive bot activity, downloading data at a scale which our infrastructure has found challenging. We have been finding this across all our metadata resources in recent months.
