The header is a mural by Eric Carle that is greens and yellows Dear Friends, As you may have heard, Hampshire College’s Board of Trustees voted to permanently close Hampshire College following the Fall 2026 semester. We are saddened about this news, as Hampshire College has been a wonderful neighbor to The Carle. We wish everyone in the Hampshire community the best as they go through this challenging time. The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is an independent organization, located on its own land that is adjacent to Hampshire College. The Carle’s building and operations will not be impacted by any changes at Hampshire. We look forward to continuing to welcome visitors of all ages to enjoy our inspiring exhibitions and creative programming. Best, Jennifer Schantz Executive Director
with the news about Hampshire College closing, I've seen some wondering about the Eric Carle Museum; they're independent. Below, the letter they have sent out.
She created such lovely books!
Do you follow KBR Plus? It's me, @drydenbks.bsky.social, and @eileenwrobinson.bsky.social. We announced our upcoming *hangouts* last week, and there's more coming along. We share revision-related posts too.

Enjoyed this novel, Wild People Quiet, about a Métis woman beginning to reconnect with her past and her culture through the art of beading. #booksky #canlit
Illustration of girl in shorts holding a notebook in front of a lying down dog, against a backdrop of city buildings.
Love how this early middle grade novel, THE ANXIOUS EXILE OF SARA SALT” shows how writing letters helps one girl make a difference to others and herself. A great read aloud for a junior classroom! 📚👍🏻 #cankidlit #kidlit #edusky #ireadcanadian @orcabook.bsky.social
"Too Bright To See", Kyle Lukoff It's hard to be yourself before you know who that is.
I just want to shout out a great children's trans story I came across recently titled "Too Bright To See". It really pulls you into the feeling of body dysmorphia and discovering your gender identity, with a spiritual push.
Well, it's official--On March 31st, I become the Regional Advisor for #EasternUp. My thanks to Kerry McQuaide and @nancycastaldobooks.bsky.social for laying such a great path before me, and to the wonderful volunteers and creatives who make the Eastern NY SCBWI region so vibrant.

This early reader, Supervillains in Training: The Fantastic Freeze Ray, is so much fun! My grade 1 students will love it—lots of action, great illustrations and kid relatable problems. Great for a primary classroom! 👍🏻📚#kidlit #scholastic #edusky @kaileipewbooks.bsky.social
That’s fabulous!
So inspiring to talk through ideas together…and motivating to work on our projects in the same room. Thanks, @debbieohi.com being flexible about timing to coincide with March break.
So glad you had fun!

In a few cleverly rhymed words, GOTCHA DAY, written by @deborahkerbel.com, illustrated by @udayana-lugo.bsky.social and published by @orcabooks, tells the story of how a stray dog comes to find their owner. I love the way this book introduces new vocabulary! A fun read. #kidlit 📚👍🏻 #edusky
PbParty Contest Submissions: March 17, 2026 Midnight to 8pm EST Agent/Editor Round: May 4-8,2026
2 days until submission day for #pbparty! I continue to be impressed at how much work @mindyalyseweiss.bsky.social, @sylviaichen.bsky.social and the other judges put into this event. #kidlit
My mother-in-law who recently passed away was fond of reminding us to do it now; when you say you’ll do it tomorrow, tomorrow never comes. #kidlitchat
That in-bed-with-a-flashlight vibe is so #kidlit! But I bet the consistency of writing so much keeps the ideas flowing. #kidlitchat
Ooh, sounds cool! #kidlitchat
I have generated lots of random dialogue with interesting words! #kidlitchat
It does! And it’s getting harder with cutbacks to staff, increasing class sizes and less resources. But I love working with the kids. Feel so lucky to help them learn to read. #kidlitchat
I’ve been using the daily Wordle word as a writing prompt. Having lots of fun with it! #kidlitchat
Sounds fun!! #kidlitchat
Interesting! I have too many creative interests (different types of writing projects, art) and not enough time with a full time teaching job. But I try to do some writing every day…ideally art making too but that doesn’t always happen. #kidlitchat
That’s amazing! I am struggling to complete 1 pb draft a month. #kidlitchat
Wow! That’s impressive!
Cartoony illustration of girl looking anxious, carrying and trailing a collection of papers and books under the book title with concerned flamingo friend looking on
It was fun to try some balanced or busy activities from the teacher guide for the #picturebook I'M BUSY with my Gr 1 students. We ended up discussing being mindful of how time is spent on devices. (The guide is on @debbieohi.com.) #edusky #SchoolLibrarians @marciecolleen.bsky.social
That is very cool!!
I’m going to get it ASAP!
