Old math text screenshot - word underlined in yellow is the focus - might me “lame” or “iame” or “tame”. I can’t tell.
Is this “lame”? “tame”? “iame”? And I’m curious about intent/meaning in context 👀

Historical math text discussing “carrying”. It appears as the letter “s” has been replaced with “f” in several words (ex: fuperior instead of superior, neceffary instead of necessary)
I need a deeper dive into the spelling. At first I thought it was a word press issue with a missing “s” but it occurs in other places. So now I need to learn when/why we replaced “f” with “s” in those words.
Old math textbook title “vulgar and decimal.”
The title 👀😅 I need to google the alternate meaning of “vulgar” as it relates to mathematics. (Or if it is meant as I understand it 😆 then I need to know more)
I have so many questions about this picture 👀🤔
Huge shoutout to @flynneducation.bsky.social @zakchamp.bsky.social and @cluzniak.bsky.social for tonight’s math playdate!!! Loved the task and the community/conversation. 🫶
Cover of “Math Tasks for the Thinking Classroom - Grades K-5” book. Green border, different color icons at the bottom of student stick figures solving math problems in front of a whiteboard.
Long shot BUT does someone have the HS version of this that they’d be willing to swap for the K-5 version? I bought this and never needed it.

When even Gmail says “you’re not tall enough to ride this ride” 🙄🙄
Currently going through old blog posts again from the last 15ish years & remembering what a life line that was for professional growth & community. I remember how I felt reading them for the first time (& implementing them). I also hear your voices & see your faces as I read them.🫶
I find that many of those who feel that way LEARNED it that way and never got to experience joy/wonder/beauty/discovery on their own. I’m grateful for those who build opportunities into professional learning for educators to see it from a new perspective. 🥹

Have I parasocially adopted them both and will I be bragging about them like they’re my grandkids for a while? Probably. 😅

I’d like to thank @mikeflynn55.bsky.social in advance for the s**t talking I will be doing with my family through the upcoming holiday break🙌
Hobonichi Weeks page encouraging user to write down common measurements proportional to their size (including icons). Ex: thumb to pointer finger, thumb to pinkie, elbow to longest fingertip, heel to toe (with and without shoes), stride when walking normally , wingspan. Also includes sizes of common items like credit cards (3.4”x2.1”), A4-size paper (8.3”x11.7”), letter size paper, Hobonichi Techo Weeks cover (3.7” x 7.4”). Has a ruler in cm down the right hand side of the page.
Just noticed this page in the back of my Hobonichi weeks planner. Would be a cool idea for students to use in class (if I was still teaching middle school) at beginning, middle, and end of year (since most of them, unlike me, GROW in their teens😆) for data, percents, etc. (except for bare feet🤢).
Hey hey friend!!! You did the same for me🥹
I hope you’re doing well!
Ouch.
New project alert!
Which One Doesn't Belong? Second Edition.
I am deep in the middle of writing and would love input from folks who have used the routine in their classrooms.
Short Google form here—one page, eight questions, most of them optional: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Did not know that was a thing!! Thank you! I just fixed it. ☺️🫶
Argh. I’m still sleepy/foggy and forgot the alt text🤦♀️:
it’s a small gift bag with “you got boo’ed” on the front, remaining pics show candy and a candle with a note that says “Hope you enjoy!”

Frankenstein pixel art.
We have some fun Halloween themed patterns you can collect in Tile Farm Harvest this week. Here is one built in Tile Farm Studio by a 2nd grader from Albuquerque, NM. It’s a beautiful design, but also has a lot of underlying math in it.

Stalking your presentation this morning from afar via @sneffleupagus.bsky.social who was RAVING about your incredible ideas last night.
