March and April are the months when Washington gains daylight the fastest. Reaching 8:00 PM marks the transition from "surviving" the dark to having a full evening of usable light after the typical 9-to-5 workday.

If you’re near the water at dusk this time of year, take a minute and look west. About an hour after sunset, you might catch a faint glow rising from the horizon. It’s called the zodiacal light.

This is a Pantropical spotted dolphin. They can launch themselves 15–20 feet above the water, often spinning mid-air. They’re one of the few species known for spinning leaps, similar to their close cousins, spinner dolphins.

A fin whale surfaces! Watch the ocean’s “greyhound” glide and blow 🌊🐋
In this short clip, a fin whale glides along the surface before releasing a powerful blow of mist into the air. That tall, narrow column can rise 20–25 feet (6–8 m) above the water—often the first clue a whale is nearby. 🌊
On this day in 1989, Lady Washington first touched water, slipping into the Wishkah River in Aberdeen WA!
