As we have #StarWarsDay (May 4) and #TowelDay (May 25) coming up, is someone making a #scifi #MusicChallenge for next month?
I mean someone other than me of course, because I'm rubbish at social media.

BAFTA pulling a trailer for an autobiographical game about surviving sexual assault only hours before it was said to be a part of a showcase is an exceptionally bad look.

I do have a WW2 alternate history kicking around that I might get around to doing something with one day, although even that is more 'what if WW2 never happened'.
I guess there are just other things I'd rather write about.

Not as much as it used to. As a kid I read Battle and Battle Action Force comics every week until it disappeared, and a lot of non-fiction about the Royal Air Force until much later, but it rarely shows up in my reading these days.

My first book was a retelling of the Old Testament account of Abraham as a space opera (Countless as the Stars), and my most recent is a look at the religious themes in Red Dwarf compared to the Bible (Where Do All the Calculators Go?).
So there's that.

Well, as a Christian, possibly not as big a place as it should!
But seriously, I like to read sci-fi stories which also explore faith and religion, by Christians about Christianity (or an analogue), or by anyone just using scifi to look at the themes.

Thanks for asking!
And following on from Q4, I actually did write the (arguably) next best thing: 'Where Do All The Calculators Go? - the Gospel According to Red Dwarf'.

#SFFChat Q4
I have long been interested in the intersection of science fiction and faith, and the book I would love to write (but never will) is 'Who is this God person anyway? - The Gospel According to the Hitchhikerβs Guide to the Galaxy'.
Well I did do it for fun back then, so it wasn't the actual gaming as much as me completely having forgotten how to play that had the yikes effect...
#SFFChat Q3
I do enjoy a bit of 'realistic' sci-fi here and there, Stephen Baxter's NASA trilogy being one (well, three) that has stuck with me for that reason.
#SFFChat Q2
Well, I'd be lying if I said researching all those old games for The Ambivalence Chronicles was 100% a chore....
Although, very satisfying to find this 1987 OS map (nowhere near Kettering or Corby) a few years ago, for geographical research for a novel set in the area in 1988.
#SFFChat Q1
A bit of both. I'll get the big picture research done beforehand, but specific details I'll either look up en route or note for later while I'm getting the first draft down.
Being a car geek as well, I do need to know the exact shade of yellow a character's XR3 might have been in 1988.
