That’s a good point!

I find ADs on socials whom I’d like to connect with, but often their accounts are private. I don’t want to follow those and send DMs unless they already follow me. Cold email could be a solution, but I heard, if you are agented, some ADs would rather hear from agents than directly from illustrators…

Agented illustrators in kidlit, do you still cold email to art directors??

I’ve been working on a few ideas with my agent for my author/illustrator debut. We finally settled with one of the ideas, which is very exciting. So my goal for the rest of the month is to take a stab at drafting a manuscript and thumbnailing a dummy! #kidlit

I recently had a chance to watch this absolutely beautiful animated film called Little Amélie or the Character of Rain. The shifting emotions expressed by the rich palette was stunning. If you haven’t seen the film yet, I highly recommend it!

I had to create a sample before getting the deal to show I’d be able to draw the likeness. I went all in and got it done fully in color. And I found out afterward that they just needed a sketch lol #kidlit
