Psychedelic-like effects induced by 2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodoamphetamine, lysergic acid diethylamide, and psilocybin in male and female C57BL/6J mice - Psychopharmacology Rationale The head twitch response (HTR) is a spontaneously occurring behavior in mice that is increased in frequency by serotonergic psychedelics. The mouse HTR is often used as a proxy for psychedel...

An LSD Comparison LSD itself, then, is not a natural product. And neither is the compound to the right of it - that's lisuride, which was synthesized in the early 1960s. A lot of work has been done on this chemical framework, and lisuride itself has been marketed as a drug over the years for migraine and several other indications. It has no hallucinogenic effects, though.

A really nice synopsis of our recently published study on lisuride vs LSD from Derek Lowe for "In The Pipeline" 😎

One glaring example: folks who run a reverse LD cycle run behavior during the dark phase in either normal lights or red light. This changes the LD cycle by breaking up the dark portion of the cycle with light exposure. This can induce circadian misalignment and impacts the results obtained.

The chronobiologist in me wants to highlight the importance of the Dictionary.com word of the day yesterday. Zeitgebers matter for all biological research.

Many ignore the influence of zeitgebers in biomedical research - contributing to the replication crisis and misleading future research.
