This is very exciting news.
A very positive day today delivering creative translation workshops to Year 5 students, who engaged brilliantly to translate Catalan poetry into English, using a range of cross-curricular skills.
It is always worth listening to Kalaf Epalanga, but I particularly love the way he talks about translation here.

Translating a book with a rhyme on *almost* every line.
Me: ...but what if it was *every* line?
My current translation is a rhyming children's story, which is nice in this season of festive gatherings because it's very easy for non-linguists to grasp why a machine couldn't do that.

Sometimes being a translator means resisting the urge to be an editor...or does it?
Cercas x McLean x Fitzcarraldo is some combo 🔥
'God's Fool at the Ends of the Earth' is brilliant. One of the best books I've read this year.

Delighted to have one of my translations in this book. Just look at that cover! 💚🇧🇷🎄
Never underestimate the importance and value of public libraries. Revolutionary spaces in modern times.
Good line from George Monbiot on Radio 4 there: 'protest built our democracy'.
On the anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, let us never forget that ordinary people standing up for what is right is part of our history, a radical history of striving for a better world.
Huge congrats to the Cercador Prize finalists! @furiousleeper.bsky.social
Today is International Translation Day, so it seems like the perfect time to share the news that I have been awarded a grant from the Institut Ramon Llull to translate a sample of work by the legendary Valencian author Maria Beneyto! #ITD25
When you find a Portuguese cafe in an unexpected place, it would be rude not to pop in for a cafezinho... ☕
Thanks, will do! I've had another one published today (copies still in the post) so I'll add that too.
