Ownership friction between Marketing & Comms is real.
Brand. Social. Thought leadership. Storytelling.
Overlap is inevitableāso stop competing & start collaborating.
Ego is the enemy. The business should win.
How do you handle it?

I sat in a room where everyone spoke fluent acronym ⦠except me.
EBITDA, OKRs ... huh?
So, I googled and studied.
I asked better questions.
Over time, execs ASKED FOR my thoughts in the room.
Then, I BECAME an exec.
To every comms pro who's felt out of place ... keep building.

Reminder: Every request a Comms. Leader gets is āa priorityā to someone. BUT Comms Leaders look at COMPANY priorities ... not just one person or one teamās. Saying no protects budget, time, and audience attention. Weāre not here for popularity. Weāre here to make an impact. #corpcomms
Newsom responds to ICE agents outside his redistricting announcement.
iāve certainly had my issues with newsom but right now heās nailing the moment
Newsom: āWake up, America. If he rigs this election, you wonāt have a country anymore.ā
We wouldnāt need the list if we believed women.

Iām here!
I had a profile here but didn't really post much or check her TBH. I'd love to say "this too shall pass" but ... I'm not so sure.
Communications Business Advisors. Never Communications Waitresses.
Because if I was a man, I'd be the man.
Let's elevate the field and the women in it, shall we?

No one teaches you how to be a VP of Comms
But once you're there, you're expected to have all the answers ā¦
And now you're alone.
So where do you go?
You go to a fellow Communications expert to get another view.
Because you can't see the label when you're in the jar.

OK, but all feedback is is not gospel truth.
In Raise the Tide, you get to decide what you take and what you trash.
Together, with a trusted coach IN THIS FIELD who can help you decide what's true and what's biased. Join your crew and Raise the Tide for yourself and for all women in this field.
All feedback is not good feedback.
Yet we've been taught to not get "defensive" when we're given feedback.
How do you advocate in an oversimplified field like Communications when you're a woman? If you push too hard, you're labeled as aggressive. Here's how:
You join your crew through Raise the Tide.
You don't need to change to lead. Shape an environment that allows you to lead instead.

Got called an OG Comms Leader/Expert last week and these are the vibes .... owning it.
We wouldnāt need the Epstein files if we believed the women.
Just a reminder: All of this youāre seeing (or avoiding) on the news was preventable. Voting matters.
reichest man in the world
I'm just asking for ONE frontpage typo tomorrow. ONE.
The December look that's got rizz ...
Off to sleigh the patriarchy.
Who's with me?
Love that you keep doing this for our field @leeleechicago.bsky.social . Well done. Kindness and effort in action
I mean, I was a server too, so I get it. But the role of server is so very, but it breaks through to execs when I explain it this way. If the expectations are aligned to take an order vs advise on business, the execs expectations are way wrong.
Comms people think they need more staff, budget, new tech, etc.
What they REALLY need is agency over their own decisions.
To be treated as the advisors they are.
To have people trust that youāre the expert . . .
and that YOU believe it in every fiber of your being.
Communications professionals are business advisors, not communications waitresses there to take your order.
Excited to see how this one goes ⦠and also a little exhausted from content creation on multiple platforms TBH. āTis the season.
Hi Communications & PR crew! š
Iām here and as usual, Iām sure Iāll have a whole lot to say. If you donāt like it, blame @pheadrick.bsky.social and the FOMO he created over on LinkedIn.
Letās see what we can do over here to elevate our field and the people in it; eh? Off we go ā¦
