When I’m on deadline, or have extended bookings with other clients that I want to be fully present for the difficulty is amplified. Because I might have left the on read for several days already, when I finally get a rest day, I can feel guilty and risk replying before I’m truly ready.

Right now I’m working on how to balance clients I adore when I’m in need of a break. I imagine that from their POV it could feel like they’ve given me lots of space, but they can’t see the reality of my weeks. I don’t want them to feel uncared for, or mistake my text/ email silence for disinterest.

I’ve started toying with this too. I juggle this world along with freelance civvy gigs and artistic projects and sometimes I find myself overwhelmed. Last month I took a self care day that included a spa visit, while having a service come and deep clean my home. It was pure bliss.
