Our school had an Eng dept meeting with a person who came in to tell us teaching writing was dead and that we needed to start teaching how to write better prompts and is AI correctly instead. It was WILD… and the end of my career there. It made my mind up for me.

Kiddo got in trouble in his college sociology 2 class today. They had a speaker from the military and when someone asked “what do you think about what’s going on today?” The speaker answered that they “don’t get an opinion, they just have to follow orders”.

So I ran into this issue with essays from students- I was getting every paper 99% AI… so I wrote an essay and ran it. It also said 99%. Then I paid for the “high end” version of all of the big AI detectors and ran it again. It became 8% or 5% - it’s a miracle. They just want money.

When your kid, who just had a weird MRI that showed a “density” in his brain, calls and asks what spinal fluid tastes like bec he has post nasal drip and he’s tired… I don’t think I was ready for parenting. How the fuck do I function without panicking him into to the ER?!? (He feels fine…)
