Posts by Work3Studio - Banana Bash! NES ROM Demo OUT NOW!

True, but even so, Mass panic buying occurs in Japan before every typhoon, usually bread. Toilet paper disappearance only happened during covid. This may have been only central Tokyo, but it happened nonetheless.

Not every typically average apartment has a washlet, I've been here over 16 years and only just moved into a place that has one.

The announcement of the governor of Tokyo’s press conference, March 25 2020, kicked off another bout of panic buying. This was at about 7.55 Pm, 5 mins before the speech, which advised people to stay at home this weekend. I only went in for some chicken, and that was all gone.

Um, toilet paper was completely wiped out in Tokyo for about over a month during COVID.

Before every typhoon, everyone panic buys bread. Why they want the most easily spoiled item to hoard, I don't know why. You could go to any other store and buy much longer lasting retort bags of curry..

I don't always work for Japanese companies, but when I do, I always eventually end up feeling like the inside of my cranium has sunburn. 😓

Wow, blast from the past! Didn't know this was out!
(bad trailer, but I like the new character illustration)
I was a character modeler an animator on this, back in the day. Silicon Graphics workstation flashbacks/trauma aplenty!

"Cyberswarm Overdrive" is a new #homebrew for the #NES,
being developed by "Ninja Dynamics"

From the early WIPs we've seen so far, the game is showcasing some really impressive visuals for the old 8-bit system

Like this massive truck sprite!

Hi Taki!
I’d love to include our NES homebrew, Banana Bash!

Free demo ROM is here:

It won Best Gameplay at MAGFest!

Thanks for putting this together — it’s such a cool initiative for the homebrew community.

I hate to say this, but Banana Bash will need more time.
We’ve made incredible progress, but final code still isn’t complete.

It’s frustrating, but we want this to be the best it can be, and worth your patience.
We now expect "code complete" around Q1 '26

Sorry. 😓

Development wise, We have prompts integrated for stage starts and "ring outs" , but we're behind schedule while pathing logic is figured out, this allows you to pick stages you prefer along a path, and then play the ones you didn't afterwards as a second loop.

Apologies for lack of updates. I've been trying to find a new gamedev job, as I've been unemployed for almost 6 months.

I've been working on packaging solutions and final promo stuff in between.

Been looking for a job primarily. Lots of leads and dancing around, but no signed contract yet. Western industry is a slaughterhouse ATM, so looks like I'll be at a JP company again..

Noticed a lot of NES Kickstarters like Storied Sword use live-action inserts to tell a story . Since Banana Bash stars cartoon animals and I only have myself to rely on, that’s tricky! But after months of head-scratching, I think I finally came up with a solution. Hope it’s fun!

We've been super busy on our big push over the Japanese Golden week holiday! Programming is continuing at a fantastic pace and I've been heads down in After Effects working on bits for the final Kickstarter video!
