I am advertising for a PhD position in my group. We'll be investigating how pathogenic RNA viruses replicate in the nucleus. The project will teach cryoEM/ET, virus culture, and in vitro assays.
If you're interested reach out and I'd be happy to have a chat.

Looking for a PhD? 🚀 MIBTP projects are out lots to explore!
🔬 #Bacteria • #AMR • #Interdisciplinary • FUN!
My projects explore how Gram-negative bacteria build and maintain their three-layered cell envelope, using cryo-EM, fluorescence microscopy and biochemistry.

Repost = nice. Thank you very much!!!
I joined School of Life Sciences 3 months ago and these guys have been so welcoming. Gibbet Hill Rovers making it feel like being apart of a community instantly. Thanks to @davidroper2.bsky.social for helping me get involved. Looking forward to season 3!
People get special things engraved…. We got cryo-EM pucks engraved.
Now time to make some samples @jeremykeown.bsky.social
On route to the Great Wall symposium!
Hopefully see lots of you there! thegreatwall-symposium.org/program/

Huge congratulations on getting this award, it is a MASSIVE achievement!
Divisome dynamics in intracellular UPEC cells during infection. Left: Representative confocal image of intracellular UTI89 expressing a division marker (FtsZ-mCitrine; pseudo coloured green) with mCherry (pseudo coloured magenta) as cytoplasmic marker, bladder cell membranes shown in blue (CellBrite Steady Membrane 405) and nuclei shown in gold (NucSpot Live Cell 650). Right: Still images of a time-lapse sequence showing FtsZ-mCitrine (pseudo coloured green) driven coccobacilli divisions imaged using HiLo illumination.
Uropathogenic #Ecoli #UPEC proliferate as round coccoid cells during intracellular infection; @alaskapokhrel.bsky.social @bill-lab.bsky.social &co show that accelerated division via FtsZ constriction drives this, the coccobacillus form persisting for generations @plosbiology.org 🧪 plos.io/4gdx97i
How do you know you have transitioned from postdoc to PI? When you enter the lab after a hiatus and can’t run a gel properly

Please re-post: If you know (or are!) somebody who might fancy doing a PhD (Oct 2026 start) in my group @oxfordbiochemistry.bsky.social, working on chromatin evolution in prokaryotes (or other things we're interested in), please have a look at www.bioch.ox.ac.uk/supervisors-...
@scientificlabs.bsky.social were very helpful with some of the best prices, @thermofishersci.bsky.social had good turnaround times, @bio-rad.bsky.social good response times and pricing, and @cytiva.bsky.social special shoutout to John, an outstanding and super helpful rep (ongoing purchase)
Starting a lab has meant significant orders. For anyone going through this, here are the standout companies for me with quick responses, helpful product knowledge, competitive pricing and rapid delivery: @promegauk.bsky.social

Huge congrats to Keown lab and co on their cool new paper! 📕 I watched this one come together and it is amazing to see all that hard work pay off. Proud of the first-time sole corresponding author 🎉
I wondering if anyone who does cryoEM or work with cold things could help me! I am looking for a hot plate to dry tools post being in liquid nitrogen. They all seem to be £800+ for something so simple. Anyone know where to source a cheap warming plate?
I’ve landed at the SLS, University of Warwick! 🎉 Thanks to the Wellcome Trust for supporting this next chapter. Everyone’s been so welcoming, and I’m excited for the challenges ahead (even the endless quizzes 📝).
Risk assessments first, then into the lab! Missing old friends, see you soon for EM 🔬❄️
I love reading @jiexiaolab.bsky.social papers. They have lovely elegant stories to unwrap this complex system.

Just @carokobras.bsky.social doing amazing stuff! She is a fantastic scientist and wonderful person. If you don't already follow her you should because she has some really exciting science on the way!
We use them too!
