Big sportsball now appears to be owned/run run by big gambling, pretty much everywhere. Certainly is in Australia.

The kind of AI that techbros and governments are pushing is not the internet, or cell phones, or personal computers, or heavier than air flying machines, or the wheel.

It's the digital equivalent of asbestos, plastics, teflon, and lead.

‘A white man’s fantasy’: if we want to rebuild social cohesion, we need to acknowledge where it all started to unravel Australia has a serious problem with social cohesion, but it’s no good pretending it’s recent. Koori civilisation has been torn asunder ever since the convict ships dropped anchor

A must-read for Australians from Melissa Lucashenko on the definition of 'social cohesion' & more. www.theguardian.com/society/ng-i...

I'm starting to think that 40 years of electing governments based on how little they think the state should do, might be the cause of how little the state can do.

What’s the weirdest planet in the solar system? All the sun’s planets are oddballs. But some are more so than others

What's the weirdest planet in the solar system?

I bet your answer is different than mine!

Just so we're clear:

Iran has opened the Strait of Hormuz.
But the USA is still blockading it.

Is it possible to die of face-palming?

elmo from sesame street standing in front of a wall Alt: elmo from sesame street standing in front of a wall shrugging

Also, the whole idea of the NDIS is that it's a service to the nation. Traditional media coverage and Coalition policy (now that Hollie Hughes has gone) is that it's a burden, and that any misspending invalidates the whole exercise. How to change the underlying attitude of being a burden?

5 days ago 24 7 1 1

The entire issue with the NDIS is that a generation of Australians (including almost everyone working in the political media) have become indoctrinated to believe the private sector is more efficient than the private sector.

I get that people say "if lefties criticise Starmer it just paves the way for Farage."

What's the alternative? Ignore incompetence and corruption? Let it become normalised, just in time for the far right to enter govt and REALLY go to town?

I'm gonna criticise ANYBODY incompetent or corrupt.

Viktor Orbán inspired rightwingers across the EU and in Britain. His defeat could represent a turning of the tide | Polly Toynbee We must hope this vote will be the start of a wider backlash – and send hard-right populism back to the fringes where it belongs, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

It's so funny to me that right-wingers love to pretend to love the Middle Ages and the Crusades and all that and then complain that the Pope shouldn't get involved in politics.

Why does the world allow genocides in places like Congo, Palestine, & Sudan? Racism.

Why can the US instigate an illegal war in Iran with no real pushback? Racism.

Why is ICE allowed to freely murder & brutalize people? Racism.

Why can’t we truly progress as a society? Racism.

A collection of 6 books on Paul Robeson including his personal autobiography

It's April 9th, so you know what that means?

That's right....you guessed it.

It's Paul Robeson Day.

If ever there was any person whose image & legacy deserves an immediate resurrection, it's Robeson.

Born 128 years ago today, his name should be as (or more) recognizable as 'Elvis.'
