Yes! There’s so many hilarious throwaway lines and really funny edits that all happen so fast you almost need to rewatch to catch it all. Does a great job of avoiding being one-note and just leaning on its style for 90 minutes. And the style IS great, so that’s just icing on the cake.

We’re back!

What if Gidget from 1959 was an 80’s slasher that also deconstructed gender roles and sexual “normalcy’? That’s Psycho Beach Party!

And anyone else here a fan of this should-be cult classic?

We’re back with new episodes coming soon but for now here’s our #lastfourwatched on this chilly #LetterboxdFriday!

Thomas Pynchon is my (Ryan) favorite author so seeing Vineland adapted so amazingly in One Battle After Another made me happy as a clam. And Red River ruled. 🤠

Hey everyone! We’ve been away, mourning the passing of our beloved cat, Trip, who you’ve probably heard getting tangled in microphone wires in a few episodes. And we’ve spent the last month welcoming our new rescue dog, Jiffy, into our home! Now we’re back and will have these new episodes out soon:

Happy #LetterboxdFriday!

Dead End Drive-In is simply one of the best films of any genre we watched all year.

Only learned that Eli Roth is now a total piece of shit after watching Thanksgiving, so 5/5 movie but last of his we’ll ever watch.

The Tunnel & Antrum = A+ creepiness and scares

Yes! He’s the man! We actually just watched Encounters of the Spooky Kind II for the first time last night and he was fantastic in that. So fun seeing he and Sammo together in some crazy supernatural battles.

It was the same here! We stumbled into them when Criterion Channel added Encounters of the Spooky Kind. It has since become a Halloween tradition, it’s an amazing film. With Sammo Hung directing and starring the stunts are absolutely insane. Plus, you know, zombie kung fu fights.

The only thing you’ve gotta ignore with Incantation is the frequent notion of “why is there a camera filming this right now?” 😂 Really stretches the found footage aspect. But in terms of the scares? Absolutely dread-inducing for its entire runtime. Enjoy! 💀

We’re playing catchup and still finishing our 31 Days of Horror. Biggest surprise was Longlegs, since it seems to be pretty middling for most horror fans. Incantation was genuinely scary AF. And Project Wolf Hunting is a MUST WATCH for gore hounds, holy crap.

Happy Halloween! On our podcast today we’re celebrating with a slashic! The 1986 Oklahoma regional horror film, Terror at Tenkiller!

Listen: linktr.ee/isvpodcast

If Robert Altman made a low budget slasher, would it feel like this? That’s the argument we’re making on the show.

Yeah! Especially since this one isn’t carrying on the legacy of any of the original characters and is a fully separate story. Once the core group gets together and starts freaking out in this one it’s just utter lunacy and bad decision making with a very clear self awareness of how silly it is.

This has gotta be one of the most unfairly maligned horror films ever! If you remove your expectations linked to the legacy of the original, this sequel is a hilarious film with an unhinged energy that is rarely matched! Don’t let the negative reviews steer you away from this!

Been a while since we’ve been on here so here’s an expanded #LetterboxdFriday with our entire October horror indulgence so far.

Top picks are Red Rooms and Dangerous Animals, and for good old fashioned fun Terror at Tenkiller, Evil Cat, and Cutting Class were a blast!

Kicking off an October full of spooky podcasts with…Spookies! This insane 1988 horror film’s production was notoriously chaotic and the results are…kind of amazing? We love this one.

Yeah a while back someone on r/horror sent me an incredibly in depth analysis of it that the character limit can’t accommodate but I was stunned at how deep the two films are. Hidden gems through and through, both of them. I think 2 has some of the best horror cinematography of all time.

Alright we’ll join the party. Hideki: Evil Dead Trap 2 is a neon soaked fever dream and one of the best J-Horrors of the 90’s. It’s perhaps one of the creepiest and best-shot horrors of that entire era from any country. A must for horror nerds, it’s on #Shudder! First one’s a banger, too.

The stunt work in this film and the amazing sequels still put most modern films to shame. Absolutely crazy movie!

Would not be the first film for which I’ve had to turn to the Archive in the last 24 hours. Thanks!
