Never seen any of these people in the subway station.

A terrific discussion of mundane “taxpayer” buildings that define neighborhoods, under the radar. Enjoy now; these buildings will go. #architecture #NewYorkCity www.brownstoner.com/architecture...
My question is: Why is Trump hanging out with that hippie?
Agree. It seems gratuitously divisive.
The Trump administration will begin releasing funding for the East Harlem leg of the Second Avenue Subway, which it has withheld since last fall, following a lawsuit that the MTA filed last month to unfreeze the money.

Painting granite is not good for the stonework. Painting it white to “resemble” marble is just phony and wrongheaded. I hope that the Commissioners on the Commission of Fine Art recognize this fact and oppose the idea.
Trump can't keep his filthy short-fingered vulgarian hands off of DC buildings.
He wants to cover the Eisenhower Executive Office Building's stone facade w/white paint. The Commission of Fine Arts will hear a presentation on the plan on April 16.

Speak up by 4/15 to help prevent Executive Office Building from being painted white. This is *not* appropriate historical architectural preservation. IT CAN DAMAGE THE GRANITE. It’s sham, Mickey Mouse stuff. www.culturalheritagepartners.com/eeob/
So, as Emma Goldberg pointed out, this is an example of sewer socialism.
I would like to see sewer socialism applied to the restoration of the 1903 “New York” mural in City Council chamber, a portion of which detached from ceiling in 2021. Have been talking about it for five years too.
More changes on 57th Street. Other side of the street as well.
Unclear exactly how long this design has been in pipeline, who designed it, and whether it’s been vetted by @nycpublicdesign. If anyone knows answer, please do tell. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/07/n...
I’m listening to this. It’s very nice, so thank you. Have never heard of Foerster. Leave it to Nonesuch.

The NY Review Books had an interesting discussion of his work. From the profile, he strikes me as being an ideologue, like certain I encountered in academia, especially 1990-2001 or so, and unfortunately on committees. The tradition lives on, I see.
