My #deathguard went to Las Vegas and walked out 3-2-1, which is a fairly pretty scoreline.
I've really enjoyed playing and painting this army, but I'm onto something else for teams and #newyearnewarmy.

All that's left is to varnish it and remove the tape and my Death Guard display board will ve ready for Vegas!
As for the board itself, it's pretty monotone, but that's the idea. My Fever Dream Death Guard are highlighted, with your senses washing out everything else to hyperfocus on them.
Also, made it very easy to paint! Insulation foam, grout, old ruins, cork, rocks, and skulls!

I built the frame myself, and it's sort of a prototype/proof-of-concept. The idea is the bottom acts as storage and the top can me swapped out for different armies. It's heavy, but nothing I can carry across a hall.

Building a display board for LVO! First time I've ever done one, so it's a bit basic in it's design, but I'm having fun with it.

And I love it! It's striking, hits all the goals, and has received basically universal praise from my opponents and friends. I'm so happy with the result and it turned the year around, hobby-wise. That's 4,545 points of Death Guard and allies, giving me nearly 5k points in a year.
A picture of what I painted to completion this year. On the top level is the non-death guard stuff, while all the pink mass is the Death Guard and allies.
Three rhinos, two predators, three plague burst crawlers, ten cultists, two malignant plaguecasters, three foul blightspawn, two myphitic blight-haulers, and three feotid bloat drones.
Mortarion in the middle of even more Death Guard.
The Plague Marines and the allies of the Death Guard.
Hobby Accomplishments!
I finished ten Storm Boyz and painted up the Void Dragon before jumping into something new.
I wanted something I could paint quickly and play with colors. So I went with "fever dream" as the target for the scheme.

Another major factor was that I've been playing so many games this edition. This is time I used to use for hobbying. When given the option between a big painting session and gaming, I chose the game.
For the first 6 months, I didn't really accomplish a lot. Later, I'll talk about the next 6 months.
A big part of this early hobby malaise was working at a chip plant doing 12-hour shifts. I hated that place and that work, and it was terribly demotivating for what little free time I had after coming home. I grew depressed. Getting out of there was phenomenal for my mental health.
But through the first half of the year, I wasn't coming anywhere close. I fell off my 300 day goal in February, and other than ensuring that I had a battle-ready army for a GT in March, I didn't complete any hobby project of note.
I did not hit my hobby goals this year.
Later, I'll post about what I did accomplish, but first I'm going to do a little bit of a retrospective critique.
I started the year with the goal of painting 10,000 points. It was audacious and I did not necessarily think I could hit it.
Coming back.
I got the brass done! At least, until I decided to catch the centipedes up to everything else. Here's the Tomb Stalker, ready for the next step. The Sentinel needs its legs done.

12 hour shifts don't leave a lot of time for hobbying, but I'm focused on painting the brass on one wraith a day. So far this week, I'm 3/3!

I fell behind updated, but this past week saw me paint more brass, assemble the Tomb Stalker, play a game, and prime the Tomb centipedes as well as a couple of Conquest models.

Yesterday, I played in an RTT. Today, I got two more wraiths and this Tomb Blade through the brass step.
I didn't get a lot of hobby done this past week on account of working 60 hours, but it's only 50 this week, so I hope to get a few more wraiths done.

The blue highlights are done and I can put down the airbrush until near the end. Up next, brass!

Yesterday, I finished the Macragge Blue step, and started on the blue highlights.

Yesterday, I played a game against Tau and painted the Macragge Blue onto the remaining Tomb Blades, the characters, and 3 more Wraiths, leaving just 8 wraiths for this step.
Today, I haven't felt well, so I'm not getting anything substantial done.

Wanted to see how the Wraiths, Tomb Blades and Lokhusts would look with the blue blocked in, and I did the Doomstalkers. Might be too much blue on the destroyer, but I'm happy with it.

I'm combining yesterday and Tuesday because I only got a little time both days, but I have finished the black airbrush work. Next up is the blue.
Also, saying goodbye to the tray in the bottom right. Gotta figure out what I want to replace the Immortals unit with in my list.

Five more wraiths down, five to go (on the a/b black highlights).

#day8
Started the airbrush work to highlight the black on my Necrons. Goal this week is to complete this step (10 Wraiths to go) and then the blue airbrush work on it all (some 36 models).

My FLGS just acquired gaming space but they have zero terrain for Warhammer! So, I dug out this old Cityfight terrain I made ages ago, completely rehabbed it, and Iβm donating it to them. Letβs hope it helps inspire some games! π #bethechange #WarhammerCommunity #warhammer40k
