Ok, so while I don’t love this channel, it’s the first take I’ve seen that places this point & absolutely HAMMERS it home about Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End:
I think Frieren is a hit partly b/c it is anime for *older adults* that seamlessly appeals to a broad audience.

Friendly reminder of the existence of this perfectly apt term describing many current regimes that, for no particular reason, the media seems ignorant or afraid of.

An electronic sign at Oakland Jack London Square Amtrak Station next to the tracks on a rainy day. We see the Jack London "Sky Bridge" over over the tracks connecting a parking structure to the apartments on the otherside of the tracks. The sign exhorts us to join 100,000 people on Bike Anywhere day on May 14 2026, with a note to visit http://www.bikeeastbay.org/btwd for more info.

YESSSS. GOT ME A TUXIE.
I am very excited, this is a gift for my bro who remembers his last formal feline fondly
How badly did your section of the country fumble it's time and money on bad infrastructure? I made a very vibes based map on my travel experiences
A shot of the cameraman’s lower leg, crossed for this photo. His pant leg is hiked up to reveal a black sock festooned with physics equations and featuring a cartoon of Albert Einstein’s face (with blue hair for some reason)
I… uhh…
Today’s clothing choice betrays me.
Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train. "If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."
I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

do NOT call me a NIMBY. I FULLY support new housing if it is AFFORDABLE, passes my personal VIBE check, will not be lived in by people I consider UNCOOL and is constructed only when the MOON is waxing, upon the APPROPRIATE ley lines

Yeah, but it’s a much more provocative definition for a chemistry audience!
an underrated, unforgivable belief that remains prevalent among pols and normies is that a rising tide lifts all boats when it’s been clear forever that a rising tide simply drowns the people on low lying land
Comic. [Person and person with white hat facing two boxes stacked with $80 price tag and sale tag on each box.] PERSON 1: They want $80 for this? I could make one myself for $10 in parts, an hour of work, a trip to the hardware store, another $30 in parts, another few hours of work, two more trips to the store for $20 more in parts, another hour of work to redo the first hour of work because I messed up, and $80 to buy this when the one I made breaks.

IMHO you need to ask a follow up question:
If it DOES do something useful, does it do so reliably and predictably?
LLMs as a technology have limited capacity for deterministic output…
TBQH a physicist’s definition of “metal” is waaaaay more clear cut than ours, lol.
Is it not hydrogen or helium? It’s a “metal”

I find cm^-1 using inverse length for energy even more aggravating than using energy for mass (e.g. MeV)
A split bar chart of YouGov polling data with the headline: "Americans are most likely to say T. Rex is their favorite dinosaur, but many don't have a favorite." The chart has the sub-headline: "Which of the following is your favorite dinosaur? (%)." The chart has the note: "Note: "Other" includes responses of archaeopteryx, spinosaurus, plesiosaur, ankylosaurus, allosaurus, parasaurolophus, dilophosaurus, diplodocus, iguanadon, and pachycephalosaurus, as well as responses of "other." We know pterodactyls and plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Opinion about dinosaurs comes from the question, "How much do you like or dislike dinosaurs?""
A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur.
And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops).

No joke, I think that this is a significant sign that society is in trouble.
Mine is the diminutive compsognathus, but mostly because of a song on a dinosaur cassette tape I had as a kid:
<<Compsognathus, small as a chicken
ran on the forest floor
he hunted quick little beetles and bugs
This mini dinosaur!>>
Watch out for a disappearing oxygen in the isopropoxy group in the bottom right scheme!
Just give me something to read in place of a video. Pretty much every single time.
At least initially, I mean
YMMV but now that I have the usage data, in hindsight I probably would have gone with the 30 min delay since M&M tend to use the box around the same time, and 15min was cutting it a bit close
Or find someone who’s willing to let you put that crude sample on their ion exhange/ECD sugar HPLC setup 🫠
