This story was last year but it’s obviously still happening.
For Meta do this to me 5 times in one month was infuriating & ridiculous.
I did nothing wrong. I appealed it each time and their Ai arbitrarily decided some of my pages could live but some of me must die.

How Did We Get Here? | Zooniverse - People-powered research Help preserve African Caribbean history in the United Kingdom by transcribing and classifying images from the Daily Herald Archives.

📜 My Zooniverse projects have long since wrapped up but they’re still archived on there!

Here’s one I developed along with volunteers at the @mediamuseum.bsky.social using the Daily Herald Archive.

Such an amazing milestone! It’s been such a pleasure working with Zooniverse and their incredible volunteers in the past on projects, congrats to everyone on this achievement. 🥳

Educators: Support Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions A Palestinian organizer articulates why teachers should heed the call from Palestinian civil society to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel.

"It is also a teaching gesture, demonstrating to students that we do not only educate about social justice in the classroom,..., but we...practice those values outside the classroom. &...divesting from genocide, racism,...& violence is not only a moral imperative, it is necessary for..humanity."🍉🍉🍉

For evidence of the air pollution they apparently find it "unnecessary" to care about.

It turns out clean water for the local communities appears to be "unnecessary."

"But after nearly two years, Musk posted on X this month that the [water treatment] project would be paused indefinitely as xAI prioritizes adding more computing power to upgrade the Grok..."

For her final semester Ruba a pharmacy student needs $600. This isn’t the only purpose of your donations, they also keep her and her family supplied with food and essentials, but she shouldn’t have to give up her dream after working so hard for it. She has studied tirelessly, in a tent, amid the bombs and never once has her dedication wavered. Her dream has always been to help people .

Ruba is one of the kindest people I have known, she has never wanted to trouble anyone, despite how much this dream means to her. This has stalled and sadly I don't know how to change that.

Doesn't she deserves your care?

TY - i should be ok re: meds & funds. I just got paid from an outstanding contract (although I was hoping to be able to book a dentist appt in the next couple of weeks vs having to book an emergency appt NOW).

Not sure how much i'll be able to be on here or boosting today. Delayed dental care has resulted in an ear infection + an increase in pain that's really hard to manage ATM.

But mass job destruction was not what was actually happening. Self-driving cars did not wipe out millions of taxi and trucking jobs, burger-flipping robots remain a novelty, and as North America and Europe were dreaming of the future of robot senior care, Japan was already pulling back from those very technologies. AI and robotics may have taken steps forward, but they were not nearly as powerful as executives wanted the public to believe and news organizations shamefully parroted with little journalistic investigation.

The real effect was not the eradication of millions of jobs, but a more subtle and pernicious transformation of work and workplaces to reduce the leverage of workers and shift that power even further to their bosses. Tech companies took advantage of the desperation in the post-financial crisis labor market to get workers to accept lower pay and fewer rights in exchange for an income, no matter how paltry. Uber and Amazon are emblems of this effort.

But today we haven’t seen that disruption at all. Millions of jobs were not wiped out in the way the industry suggested. Instead, tech companies implemented new tech like algorithmic management to disempower workers, break unions, and push down pay.

Sacrifice your job for the glorious AI future How tech CEOs use the threat of job loss to distract from how AI is really used against workers

Perplexity’s CEO is just the latest tech leader to tell the public their jobs will be sacrificed on the altar of the glorious AI future.

It’s a compelling narrative, but it distracts us from the real impact of AI: not to take the human out of the loop, but to take away their power and cut their pay

Canadian doctors obeying a U.S. executive order that doesn’t even apply to Canada is deeply offensive to both trans people and to Canadian legal sovereignty.
