Just signed a contract with EVERNIGHT TEEN for my YA novel, ROCK BOTTOM RISE.

My novel follows 18-year-old Link as he battles through homelessness while trying to win back the girl he ghosted in eleventh grade.

Tuesday is now becoming my favorite day because I've been getting full requests on Tuesdays for the last 3 weeks!

4 requests now. I'm feeling positive!
Recently, I started getting up before my kids to see if I'd write better in the morning, but now my 4-year-old is waking up early too. He says he can hear me typing! Lol.

So if you love to write, you should keep writing. And keep querying. Because you never know when someone will read what you wrote and fall absolutely in love with it.

I hear you. I've been writing/querying for 16 years. Even though I've improved tremendously as a writer, I feel it's harder to get published or agented bc the industry is so dense. The rejections suck, and a part of me thinks I'll never reach my goals. But I still do it because I love to write.

It's hard to start a new project while querying. I worked so hard on my last project, writing in the 3rd person POV (a big challenge for me!), and researching what makes us tired. Now I'm diving back into dark fiction, 1st-person, because it'll keep me busy and happy while in the query trenches.

That suit looks amazing on you!!! Where'd you get it? I might have to order one too! I love red!

I love 1st person! But I also love 3rd person! It really depends on the story.

I love summer.

I get to READDDDD so many good books.
I get more time to write.
I would love this life 12 months a year vs 2 months a year.

I came up with an extraordinary idea based on my "ordinary" life. I hope this is the one.

While raising three kids and teaching special education, it takes approximately 6-8 months in total to progress from writing the first page to sending a query letter.

6) After I receive feedback from betas, I make changes as necessary
7) Hardest part - WAIT A WEEK - then re-read the book one last time before the queries go out

3) 2nd round of edits - listen to the book read aloud, eliminate overused words, pace, nail that opening scene
4) Beta readers!
5) While betas are being awesome readers, I read as well, doing line edits

Feeling good about my novel. This is my writing and editing process. I'm on step 5.

1) Write the 1st draft, edit grammatical mistakes as I go
2) 1st round of edits - clarity, flow, plot holes, character development

Writing updates:
1) Almost done with 1st draft of my first-ever women's fiction book.
2) Need to plan sequels for 2 other finished books.
3) Still querying! Partials and fulls out! :)

One of the things I love most is reading books in the same genre I write...falling in love with the stories, the voices, and the worlds...and then getting to cheer on the incredible authors behind them!
