A quick change of plans this afternoon when news broke of a Woodchat Shrike at Pembrey Burrows. It showed beautifully, perching in the open for prolonged spells. Nice supporting cast of Sedge and Grasshopper Warbler on the walk in. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birdsSeenIn20206 #rareBirdsUk
This Wheatear was doing its best to steal a bit of attention from the Woodchat Shrike earlier. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birdsSeenIn2026

Eurasian Dotterel
Little Ringed Plover
European Pied Flycatcher
Willow Warbler
Dotterel at Dinas Dinlle! Superb views alongside Little Ringed Plover and a flock of European Golden Plover. It flew High South soon after I arrived, lucky timing! At other sites earlier in the day: Pied Flycatcher, Cuckoo, Osprey, Willow Warblers, Redpoll, Red Kites.
Any evidence that cuckoos lay in Cettis Warbler nest
A nice couple of hours after work this evening. Started off with not one but two Little Gulls at WWT Llanelli and then onto Pembrey Harbour where I had 114 Barwits, 56 Sanderling, 40+ Knot, a small group of Dunlin and a fly bye of 18 Eider. #birds #birdingwales

On what was another pretty quiet morning for migrants, it was nice to get my first two Eurasian Whimbrels of the year on the dropping tide at Sker.
When I was a child.. a long time ago last century.. I don't ever remember hearing Blackcaps. Now they seem to be everywhere. Picked up 4 individuals singing from my crawling car between Swansea prison and Sainsbury's.. amazing #birdingwales

Well here I am again back at Pant Y Sais NNR.. sad to report no male cuckoos cuckooing.and no females burbling?.! Cettis are still shouting and lots of wood pigeon flight displays from the shrubbery around the margins. #birdingwales
Redstart
Great to see at least 4 Redstart back at Pal y Cwrt yesterday evening. First (pictured) was mostly silent at the base of the valley whilst three more vocal birds were busy chasing each other towards the top. Couple of Green Woodpeckers also. #birdingWales #UKWildlife #birds #birdsSeenIn2026
I'll be dead before we reach that point mate!
Quick detour after the school run to Pant Y Sais fen.. Jersey Marine.. 30 minutes on cuckoo watch after yesterdays report.. nothing this morning so far except several Cettis proclaiming their territories #birdingwales
