Going back in time to 2009 for this #Douglas #DC2 #aircraft painted in the colors of the #KLM "Uiver" aircraft known for its participation in the MacRobertson Air Race. It's enjoying some sun at #volkelairbase in this picture, but it is now in storage at #lelystadairport.

Another look back. Back in 2020 this #Boeing #E-6B #Mercury #aircraft (164386) made an appearance at #painefield. As it is capable of serving as an airborne command post for the US nuclear forces, it is often called the #doomsday #airplane.

Flashback to earlier this year: #AirIndia #Boeing 747 arriving at #painefield for a fuel stop, after which it would continue on to #Roswell where I assume it will be scrapped. If so, its last take off was from the same runway as its first take off.
