Because there is an expectation that academics will implement this, but at least a decade on from baseline standards and minimum expectations, this hasn't happened and won't happen unless digital education teams are empowered and resourced to support academics more directly. #altc25

The rationale was that students wanted a way to easily filter out things that weren't relevant. Having lots of things in one newsletter meant having to read through the whole thing, rather than just look at the subject header. But sending separate emails for each topic, would mean lots of emails ๐ค
I can't believe we are still having to debunk the idea of a digital native.
Every time there is a student panel, someone asks how we should communicate with students. But all students are different. Some of our students say they preferred emails, and it helps building digital skills for employability, but they find emails with multiple topics overwhelming #altc25
Good to hear the student panel busting the myth of digital natives. Whilst they are comfortable using technology for leisure, they know that using it critically and academically is different. Something that @jsecker.bsky.social and I were discussing with academics yesterday in our MA module #altc25
