I just did the math…
Between Amazon (83), IngramSpark (5), and in-person (3),
I’m at 91 total sales for Fractured Rune.
I’m 9 away from 100 👀
Who wants to help push it over that line?

It's interesting how many of the NSAs books depict violence in a way that's a bit more graphic than you'd see in the show. Plenty of the books have descriptions that reference pools of blood etc., even though as I remember there was a whole thing about blood never being shown onscreen #DoctorWho 📚🪐
Wow! That’s huge!!!! Congratulations 🎉

A hand holding up a paperback edition of Emma L. Adams’ “Death’s Disciple” against a blue sky with the odd fluffy streak of cloud. A yellow bookmark pokes out of the top of the book, which is being held at a jaunty angle to show the progress through at the top edge.
📖 Catching some #HammockTime with “Death’s Disciple” today. I’m about a quarter in and the three, err, fellow travellers, are bickering away on the road! 😆

The Nightmare of Black Island is a book that peaks at the start with a strong gothic horror opening and compelling mystery, but the rest is just sort of okay with generic warrior aliens in disguise doing nefarious things. Still a good read overall 📚🪐 #DoctorWho

An image captioned “April TBR” featuring a few books arranged in a couple of rows on a table. The books are a mix of paperback SFF. “Labyrinth’s Heart” by M.A. Carrick. “Orbitsville” by Bob Shaw. “Orbitsville Departure” by Bob Shaw. “84K” by Claire North. “Death’s Disciple” by Emma L. Adam’s. “Orbitsville Judgement” by Bob Shaw. “The Future of Trust” by Ros Taylor. “By Blood, By Salt” by J.L. Odom. Books may be marked with a giant bomb (to indicate ongoing, active, progress), a bow (to indicate completion), or a “plop” to indicate a DNF. Some may also have a yellow bookmark poking out of the top which also indicates they are in-progress.

A graph of my daily pages read for the last 28 days. It’s slowly increasing as I cram more pages into each day.
📆 Time for an end of the week reading update. We’re doing well!
I’ve started and finished an entire trilogy inside a month. And I’ve found my non-fiction of the month and smashed it too.
Sunny weather means more #HammockTime 😎 so more pages.

The ginger and white cat has a sniff of the paperback book.
A hand sneaks in to offer some scritches to the ginger and white cat, still curled around a paperback book.
🐈 It’s #Catuesday 😜 as #TheGuestCat aids me in my lunchtime reading of Claire North’s “84K”.

Heads up sci-fi fans - @jcmberne.bsky.social is building something really special with Hybrid Helix. I just finished book 8 on my lunch break and it might be the best one yet?! 💙📚🪐
And, my last #SFINCS review is up!
The Nome King and the Shroud by Tim Pratt was an entertaining SF read about old-fashioned SF AI and a nice way to take a break from current headlines!

Chapter 01 | Wild Lark Chase The moment the first missile crashed into the Skylark, Captain Jeane Blake realized she had gravely underestimated the danger they’d gotten themselves into. The spaceship jolted, and a series of yellow warning messages flashed up on the screens. On the radar display, the markers showing the Lark and the Union vessel hot on its trail flickered in and out of existence in the interference, and the gravitational anomalies of the lane kept throwing both ships off-course. Their pursuer was gaining on them. “The generator didn’t like that,” Kliks groaned in the co-pilot seat. His lean form hunched over the console, large black eyes tracking the numbers on the status indicator. “Alignment issue, I think. Can we get out of here now?” Jeane frowned at the code running on the main computer screen, then at the model above, where the Skylark’s current tra- jectory appeared atop the schematic representation of the lane: a stream of parallel lines forming a shifting and contorting chasm in the spacetime continuum. “We need five more minutes to compute a vector,” she said. Although only a rough estimate, that sounded like just enough time to be blown to smithereens by an overeager Union agent. Her Talalan companion made a frustrated noise, realizing the same thing. “I’ll take a look. We won’t get far without proper thrust.”
A comedically bad book promo post for Skylark in the Fog by Helyna L. Clove. On a starry background, a mockup of the paperback version of the book with the red label "idiots go to space therapy book out NOW!". Around it, there are sort of clipart-type cartoonish graphics of a gun (that says pew pew) a rocket (that says nyoom), a representation of a wormhole (with the label danger holes) and a little green alien saying hi. There's also a graphic of a head with colorful scrunched papers coming out of it and the label above that is "there are ~emotions". There's also a graphic of an award thingy with the label "Cool book" - some people written on it badly.
Okay I'm done for today, have the first page as a taster byeee! 💙📚 💙🪐 #BookSky #scifi #scifibooks
Tomorrow: themes and rep! Maybe. I'll see.

A hand holding up a paperback edition of Claire North’s “84K” against a clear blue sky. A yellow bookmark pokes out of the side of the hand, behind the book, to indicate completion.
Numbers of beggars rounded up trom Birmingham city centre and sent without trial to the recycling yards fon 'rehabilitation through labour'. Number of illegal immigran caught on the last sweep, divided by age and gender, sent to the patty line for 'indefinite reintegration'.
I's not that they re shot. Lined up against a wall. They're just starved to death. Or set cleaning radioactive equipment. Or beaten because they can't work a seven-day week. Or locked in solitary confinement until the noises stop. I's not murder. I's corrective rehabilitation integration. It is the individual repaying their debt to society through labour. Labour benefits business. Business is society, That is all.
🏁 That’s a wrap on “84K” by Claire North with #HammockTime. “Bang bang splat bang wowzers!”
It’s not SF but it is familiar/challenging, with a grim way of seeing things. “Excess labour reallocation” is mass graves; “indefinite reintegration” for immigration 😳

This is a very short story anyone should read it. I give it three stars because it is show short. Still, it was only meant to be published on a post card!
