Having a clear-out at Mum’s. My t-shirt from 1988. #clause28. My big belly wouldn’t fit in it now but the slogan has never been bettered imho. Except now we would be more inclusive of course. #LGBTQ+

Graphic with the headline “London is the greatest city in the world” set against a bright view of the River Thames with the Shard, Tower Bridge and the city skyline.

The text celebrates what makes London special: regularly voted the number one city in the world, incredible diversity with over 300 languages spoken, world-class transport, world leader in finance tech and life sciences, best museums and galleries many free to visit, world-leading nightlife, food sport and music for every taste, host to the world’s best sporting events, home to seven Premier League clubs, globally-ranked universities, a city where you can be yourself and love who you love, and a place for everyone.

As a child, we would visit Mum’s friend whose husband was among other things a brilliant inventor. As well as building a ride-on mower with a Morris Minor engine, he had developed a plan to store heat in a huge tank of sand for domestic heating. 50 years later mainstream technology is catching up.

Labour blocks proposal for ‘swift bricks’ in all new homes MPs had previously backed Conservative amendment to ask developers to provide hollow bricks for endangered birds

www.theguardian.com/environment/... Having worked with housing developers, I know ONLY mandatory measures will succeed - all environmental planning conditions are treated with disdain and something to work around or evade, in my experience. Come on Matthew Pennycook, you know you can do better.

Growing up in rural Norfolk in the 70s I was often bemused and frustrated by what appeared to count as ‘news’ in the local papers. I now get the same sinking feeling from the BBC News app

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

On this day in 1988, 20,000 LGBTQ people and our allies marched through the streets of Manchester to protest Section 28, which tried to stifle all mention of our lives.
At the time it was the largest gay rights gathering ever.

Five things I wouldn't do as an insulation expert - Which? News Insulation should be top of the to-do list for anyone hoping to improve their energy bills. But it needs to be installed correctly, in the right places, to be effective. Here's what to avoid.

www.which.co.uk/news/article.... Among some helpful advice here is an absence of understanding how we work with traditionally-built (eg solid walls, lime mortar) houses to allow the all-important breathability when insulating. A bit surprising from Which.
