Business Process Outsourcers (BPOs) are struggling across the board. #L&D has got to focus on weighing the value they deliver, not the content. If they don't, it's not just the BPOs that find themselves downsized

It will be fascinating to see, when we have built the frictionless Learning system, if people change their learning habits - do they want to #learn or do they just want #PerformanceSupport?
Unfortunately L&D has a habit of tightly zipping all the knowledge into a big bundle. Sometimes users want the atom of knowledge and can "follow their nose" from there ("self-serve"). Looking forward to seeing what Sana's AI Assistant has got here - could be jetpacks for them if they get it right✈️

We talk a lot about Netflix for learning - we need to think more about Google (search) for learning: a way to get people what they want in 2 clicks
(Obviously AI "chat with your documents" is an easy win here - just sayin...)

Whilst I agree #LnD could be better at marketing existing (instead of moving onto the next...!) we should really focus on making it easy to find stuff. Create a place people can go to find answers and promote that.
Create a hub (that works) and market that. Consistently.

Give them questions they'll love not answers they'll ignore

Yes, learn prompting, learn agents, fill your boots. But all this hacking will be short-lived (2-3yrs) and not EVERYONE has to do it....
Very soon #prompting will be a mature skill adjacent to "coding" and the good prompts will be embedded in SOFTWARE.
Interesting take - and you're right. But I wonder how much AI "education" is needed... Computers are primary tools - you had to learn their ways. AI is like the internet - you can learn to "code" OR you can sit back and use the software that other people code. We don't all need to "learn AI"
In #LnD our objective should not be Likes and Watches (ie time spent). We need to move away from "packaging" content and towards self-serve. Curate a gold-standard knowledge base and let the AI serve it up through Q&A on demand.
It's called AI-powered performance support

Part of this is treating our audience as adults - they don't need us to wrap #LnD up in a package with a beginning middle and end. Let them discover on their own - if the relevance is there they will use it. And the rest - maybe think about why it's not resonating...

One extreme view is that L&D isn't ready to take on the opportunity of AI-powered Performance Support (PS) - BU Leaders will start implementing AI PS systems off-grid without telling L&D...
This is a fork in the road for L&D - harness AI before someone else does....

We will get so much further if we empower people to use what they have got than try to inject them with new stuff. Aligning people through connections is a powerful way to produce combined momentum in the right direction.

Personally I don't mind if L&D reinvents itself to include Performance Support, or it sticks to Formal learning (courses).
But there is definitely white-space opening up for SOMEONE to focus on AI-powered Performance Support at scale...
I'm a techno optimist.
It's the humans I worry about
Agree that soft skills are now even more important, but humans seem to be very bad at valuing them- give me a kpi or a single letter grade and I know where I am, but with soft skills is something that can't be measured. There must be a name for this bias...
I think you are on the right track here - if you have a "zero-sum" view of the world then someone else doing well (or simply having less disadvantage) is seen as a threat. And something about the traditional role of the male disappearing. Also mystifying to note the female voters who acquiesce...
As a novelist I sometimes struggle to take my villains seriously. Then this sh1t happened
We continually fall back to the lowest common denominator to make our assessments.. so it's no surprise we have "75% pass" multiple choice threshold. Will we ever trust a system (human or AI) that gives a nuanced response or will anxiety always take us back to a 0/1 pass/fail system....?
#LnD need to get better at working in public- it's a great way to bring people along on the journey so they are ready on launch day. We need to get more comfortable being explorers and sharing the journey with our users. Not waiting until everything is perfect for the big bang launch!!
"Learning Budget"
When did you ever ask "how much learning time does this {persona} have per year?" Before we start dreaiming up new ways of producing and presenting content, isn't it time we started to get a bit more realistic about what can feasibly be consumed...?

As with most of these things, a vibrant social network is a *symtpom* of an engaged team, not a cause. The Chat about AI blew up after Nov22 for about 6 months was on fire because people wanted to share... it was organic, not "curated"
#ChatLnD doesn't solve learning, it solves performance. WIthout solving performance support your company will not be able to keep up in this continuously changing environment. Learn about how AI can support you and your colleagues here: bit.ly/Conversation...
Hi - that is very kind. I had lots of really lovely messages and a few touching conversations. I am actually excited - I have been building a plane on LinkedIn and now I get to fly it!!! Let's see if it takes off
Thank you very much! I am aiming to do something like your bio if you were to subsitute "AI-powered L&D" for HR
Think forward to what the L&D function in an organisation might look like in a few years time.... Most likely outcome: Non-L&D leaders taking it into their own hands and going rogue with AI-powered “shadow L&D” to fix their performance issues

Not sure - what if 3 cultures emerge: the CEO’s vision; the reality; and the Bot’s? What if the bot is better at change than the CEO? Could the CEO train the bot to model her personal vision?
