Really sharp writing and I still have no idea where things are going, several chapters in, but I'm totally there for the ride.

It's excellent!
I use "zombie" in this context because it's the closest descriptor, but it's really more fabulism than straight zombie fic.
Basically, Anne Boleyn wakes up after her death, discovers her decapitated head, and sews it back on. Things proceed from there. π
I'm reading The Beheading Game, which is excellent, but also, I keep needing to stop to google historical facts. As one does with an Anne Boleyn zombie-esque novel. π
Very well deserved!!
*quietly stares at the pile of side projects I have to finish* π
Congrats!!
My husband says the beef bacon comes closest to the real thing, but itβs still not exactly the same. I donβt like the taste of the pork bacon, so Iβm happy to eat turkey and beef bacon instead.
Thereβs kosher beef bacon, which is quite good!
But also, Jewish dishes too--always latkes around Hanukkah, and matzo ball soup is a year-round diner staple
Yes, very much so! You can get good spanakopita and moussaka at most diners, and sometimes some other Greek dishes, too. And then, also, they integrate it into things like a Greek omelette with feta in it, etc.
Years ago, my husband was living in Florida, and the only thing open at midnight was Denny's and Walmart. Neither of those things comes close to replicating a NJ diner.
There is something so quintessentially NJ about going to a school dance, and then going to the diner afterwards for milkshakes and endless baskets of fries. To sitting there while all of humanity is around you, and it's midnight and it's awesome.
100% agree. New Jersey diners forever. β€οΈ
A beautifully folded Crouton. β€οΈ
My hot take today is that over the last few years, the West End has had more innovative musicals than Broadway. π
Also, Iβm so sorry to hear about your dad.
My dad also has that, and Iβm absolutely taking this as a lesson to keep nagging him to do endoscopies in his 80s.
Anyway, I'm quoted in the article above, which is very neat. π
I should mention that cases like this have been the majority of my genealogical research work this year, which is both rewarding and challenging. π
Very happy π
I'm just going to leave this here because it's Yom HaShoah. #genealogy

Because I'm secretly a time traveler? π
Why do we even bother with endnotes--this is my personal pet peeve as a historian, I need to read the spicy, sassy, whiny footnotes immediately
Haha, no, New Jersey. π
And we move, hooray! π
An app screen which says : There are no trains in your vicinity at this time. We recommend using the Stations tab to select your station and next available departing or arriving train.
Also, I adore the reliability of NJ Transit's app, completely failing to recognize the presence of not one, but TWO trains in the vicinity. π
Every train ahead and behind us is also delayed, as our train occupies one track, and the disabled train occupies the other track.
We have crawled forward a tiny bit and then jerked to a stop again. We are presumably still rescuing people. (None of the rescued people are in my train car. π€·ββοΈ)
Apparently, a train ahead of us broke, so now our train gets to rescue passengers. The poor conductor keeps repeating, "The next stop is not a station stop. Do not exit the train. We are rescuing passengers."
So, that's tonight's adventure. π
