I'm thinking probably a Barbie bungee (if anyone has a favorite instruction sheet for that?), possibly a desmos art project or two. Something involving scale drawings? Need stuff for 6,7 and 8!
Anyone have any very engaging activities to keep kids learning after testing is done grades final? They'll have laptops for a bit but I've been told they collect them pretty early before the end of the year so there will be at least a week maybe two with no laptops.
For the second time this year, I’m a victim of budget cuts and my coaching position is being eliminated 😭. Please let me know if you know of anything math ed related (or something education adjacent)! Thanks!
Me at least in part because I’ve taught math to kids with language needs, but I’ve taught them math, not necessarily how to pass standardized assessments that seem to have been written without much consideration to the language. Anyone found good ways to navigate these kinds of systems? 3/3
Culture is really rough. Everyone takes a countywide assessment on or around the same day (so there is a strict pacing guide) with mostly multiple choice questions that make it hard for anyone to really see how much a student knows. The language lift is also insane, which is rough cause the hired2/3
A month into my new math coaching job, I’m really enjoying being back in a school and getting to work w teachers and students but I feel like I’m going to struggle being in a big county. There is a lot of support, which is nice and in opposition to my tiny school coaching job, but the testing 1/3
Write (some monstrosity of operations) as an expression/equation e.g. “Five less than two times the sum of seventeen and three” 🫠

What’s the career path these days!?
Anyone happen to know any grants that non-profits can apply for for curriculum.. and/or specifically creating stem materials.. and/or specifically for underserved populations?
I just saw a commercial for Botox and there were testimonials from people explaining why they needed it and they had TWO people saying “I smile a lot” and the fact that we feel like we need to hide the evidence of us smiling??? Makes me soso sad (at least I won’t have to worry about crows feet!?!)
Same lol
I agree with both of these AND think that many of our data sources are at best also biased and at worst all around bad 😅
Lol I’m pretty sure I never actually made any of the drinks we were supposed to but it was a good idea. And good company.
