Biomolecular condensates are critical for organizing cellular contents, but most studies focus on phase separation driven by salt, pH, or temperature.
But what if intracellular movement also matters?
Here, we explore motility-induced condensation in the cell.

What drives cytoplasmic mRNA organization? We created unbiased, genome-wide maps of mesoscale RNA-RNA spatial proximity, revealing impact of encoded protein function. Fantastic work from @lindsayabecker.bsky.social @sofiquinodoz.bsky.social @davidaknowles.bsky.social www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

I believe that science is a collective endevour: we stands on the shoulders of giants. If i got here is thanks to the support of my supervisor @diantoniogroup.bsky.social and PhD advisor @boekhovenlab.bsky.social, as well as the continous exchange of ideas with collegues and friends :)
I'm over the moon to share that i've been awarded a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship to investigate nucleic acid folding coupled to phase separation in the Di Antonio Lab at Imperial.
In the cover story of the February issue of @sciam.bsky.social I explain what biomolecular condensates are and why they are transforming cell biology. A short π§΅

Yet more evidence transcription factors are nothing more than glorified Uber drivers for acetyltransferase activity:

Research involves day science and night science, requiring you to become good at both. Day science proceeds in logical steps and specializes in hypothesis testing, but to generate new ideas we pop out to the creative night science world, where leaps among ideas are made possible.
π We have just released a NEW global top 100 list of scientist and science communicators on Bluesky. @lassehjorthmadsen.bsky.social and I map out the new emerging community: How are the research fields clustered? All likes, reshares, and love π is appreciated! mikeyoungacademy.dk/bluesky-is-e...
A figure points at a bookshelf in the shape of a Christmas tree which is decorated with lights and has a star on top and says: "It combines the festive jollity of a regular Christmas tree with the clear message that I'd like every one of my gifts to be a book."
A Christmas cartoon for the Guardian. Happy holidays, everyone!
