Reducing cervical cancer with HPV vaccinations is also hugely important for reducing future head and neck cancers, and the more boys are vaccinated as well, penile cancers will reduce too, as will anal cancer in everyone. It's such a shame that #HPV vaccine uptake has declined in the UK recently

A ruling that was supposed to provide legal clarity has left service providers more confused than ever, and Trans+ people vulnerable. What now?

Hampshire College just announced our closure.
I've only been here <2 years but absolutely love being here.
I don't know if I am staying until the final closing in Dec 26 or this June 26.
If you need a random wastewater/enviro engineer/bioinformatics person I am unexpectedly back on the job market!
Every year, the Editors of the RGS-IBG Area journal award the Area Prize for the best paper written by an early-career scholar, in recognition of excellent geographical scholarship.

I've had quite a few friends go, and also loved the gigs (they went to more than one!!). Love that Andrew was "dragged along" 🤣
Oh sweetness. Sending hugs. It's turned autumnal suddenly in London; I hope it's sunnier with you x

Going for an unplanned long long run on the hottest day of the year so far may not have been my best idea, but my, I loved every tired kilometre of it 🤩 #runsky
The response to the conversion therapy video has been amazing. I’ve gotten messages from lots of NHS staff appalled to learn about the present-day abuses, who want to hold senior managers to account. As I say in the video, allowing this abuse undermines the entire NHS! 🏥

A crowd of people walking across a city bridge. Overlaid text reads: “TRANS+ WORKPLACE RIGHTS IN THE UK USED TO BE BETTER THAN PEOPLE THOUGHT NOT ANY MORE. SO, WHAT HAPPENED?”
In 1996, an unlikely Cornish case won a crucial legal right for Trans+ people in the workplace.
Tomorrow, @ludovicparsons.bsky.social traces how we got those protections and what’s happening to them now.

Today is Transgender Day of Visibility. Solidarity today and everyday with trans and non-binary folk who claim space unapologetically. As governments turn trans visibility into a matter of “ideology,” we must refuse to see trans lives as a debate and instead nurture trans joy, safety, and belonging.
Alice Augusta Ball found the cure for leprosy at 23.
She died in a mysterious lab accident at 24.
Arthur Dean stole her research, stole it and renamed it from "The Ball Method" to "The Dean Method."
It took 90 years before her original research papers were found and she got the credit due to her.
🤗
I wrote about the findings from the inquiry about the impact of the pandemic on the NHS, and the mistakes of the first year.
I hope it makes you angry - it should make us all angry.

That was interesting!
if you want to know the history of this kind of policy, I made a podcast two years ago that explained why these tests make no sense, how they were already used and eventually abandoned by the IOC in the 80's and 90's, and the devastating impacts they have on real athletes: www.tested-podcast.com

Camino Ultra organised a fantastic 50km #ultramarathon along the Lea Valley canal. The sun shone, and there was a party-like atmosphere at the end.
I even managed to win the trophy for fastest non-binary runner 🥹
