I feel this so hard right now. ๐Ÿ˜

My middle kids (#2 and #3, both teenagers) are in the kitchen, doing dishes and singing along to the Chicago soundtrack at the top of their lungs. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Didn't we also fight a whole-ass war against that idea? ๐Ÿค”

Who are these people that aren't packing enough underwear for their trip?!

They taste so good! A thin sweetness.

Two carrots on a wooden cutting board. Carrot to the left is about 12" long, carrot to the right is about 3" long.

Me: "kiddo, wash some carrots for dinner."

Kiddo: "are those the ones you grew?"

Me: lol, absolutely not

For reference, store-bought on the left, my first attempt at growing carrots on the right. ๐Ÿคฃ

My husband and I were just talking about this! First one we've watched live since Challenger. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐ŸŒฑ my spring garden hasn't really even done anything yet and I'm already thinking about my summer planting. Have to pick stuff that will thrive in the Texas summer heat. Second round of tomatoes/peppers, for sure, but okra (def), maybe black eyed peas? Winter squash also... ๐Ÿค”

Apparently not knowing what I was doing? ๐Ÿคฃ TBH, I ignored them a lot. I used a raised bed so the drainage and soil mobility was pretty decent. Thinned them several times, when I remembered. Mulched after they got ~6 in tall. I also found YT videos that talked about growing carrots, esp in my area.

Small orange carrots with big bushy, leafy tops, dirt still on them, fresh from the garden. Spread across a white counter top.

First time ever growing carrots! Now that I've tried it and been successful, I can learn how to optimize to get bigger carrots. I'm so excited! ๐ŸŒฑ #gardening #NTexas

This is a way better approach than mine... Once the packet is empty, shove it back in the seed container so I remember what I planted. ๐Ÿคฃ Which, of course, led to a sudden run to the store this weekend when I realized what I thought was a full packet was actually empty.

Beautiful book!

Busy weekend in the garden ๐ŸŒฑ! After 2 truckloads of dirt that I had to move, the new beds are filled. Then I did ALL THE PLANTING/SOWING! ๐Ÿ˜ Last thing is to finish barricading the sides of the beds until I can get more chicken wire, to keep all the 2 and 4 legged creatures out.

Apparently there are cultivars that can be grown in North Texas and I'm so excited.

These kids. Aging us before our times. (But then they turn around and do amazing shit when we aren't expecting it.)

Similar but not at all: had to have a conversation with the 8yo boy child today about why choking your friends (or pretending to) is super not okay. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

As a reminder, if you see coworkers with ashes on their forehead tomorrow, don't look at them and say hey, you know you've got something on your face?

I've never been more happy to not live in SE Louisiana anymore than with that reminder. (Hope that made sense, I had wine with dinner.)

Our humidity has definitely gotten worse, so I guess I'll see if the sun can work faster than the humidity (if we have it) can rot them. ๐Ÿ˜‚

My sister in law also reminded me that we live in North Texas, and I can probably sun dry then with no problems. ๐Ÿคฃ

I grew what seemed like a metric ton of cherry tomatoes last year and didn't really know what to do with them. Thanks for sharing the idea!

That was just lovely to see. Thank you for sharing that!
