I always get so nervous when I see new reviews, and it always surprises me when they're like this one. There's a certain level of euphoria that comes with the "hey, I might actually be okay at this" realization.
Oh, how I wish this was still fiction.

Woke up "meh" this morning. Feels a little disingenuous to promote books when the world is on fire and every day we slip more and more into a dystopian hellscape.
I know, I know... art is what gives people escape. But it's hard to enjoy that escape when people I love are under fire.
I lost half a novel once. It was on a flash drive that most likely ended up flushed down a toilet (very long story). Ended up rewriting what was lost using notes and handwritten scraps and honestly, it turned out so much better than the original version.
I'm making my weekly pilgrimage this afternoon because I NNNEEEEEEEEDDD Caught Up as soon as I can get my fingers on it.

Me too! I NEED the rest of this story. A friend recommended this one to me and I just happened to see it on a Booktok recommended shelf in our local bookstore in the same week. Soooo glad I bought it.
I definitely starts slow. I picked it up and put it down twice, then finally made myself read the first 60 pages. Just as I was ready to give up for good, it got REALLY good. I'm halfway through #2 now.
I'm convinced there are drugs cooked into the pages of this book. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN and now I'm mad because #2 doesn't come out until April.
Set up a StoryGraph account (SilverKitsune for inquiring minds) and I've been manually adding my books (hello, masochist!). Thus far I've added just over 200 books.
