Treecreeper Drypoint. Hand printed on Somerset satin 300gsm paper. Small creepy little mousebirds…Love em! #birds #birdart
Testing a Little Tern plate…I’m planning to print a small edition of these prints to take with me to @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social Migfest later in the year where 🤞🏻 I’ll be showing a selection of work. All proceeds from this print will go to The Beacon Ponds Little Tern Project. #yorkshirebirds
Testing testing…my first pull of the Long Eared Owl plate. I worked with kind permission from a wonderful reference image by photographer Warren Price for this one. Such beautiful birds! #birds #birdart #birdingyorkshire
Questioning some of my choices and my sanity with this drypoint plate today. Will it even print? It’s going to be the devils own work to ink up I know that much. Hey Ho..tune in tommorow to see what happens! #birdart #birds #longearedowl
Great episode! 😊
Brand new episode of the podcast released today! Carolyn Robertson of the Cairngorms Capercaillie Project talks about this iconic bird and what is being done to prevent a second UK extinction #lekitbe
Resting my sore hands after yesterday’s printing session with a bit more willow charcoal sketching. Rather than use white paper (which frankly scares me witless) I found some gorgeous front sheets from a crumbling old atlas to destroy instead! #birdart #birds #wader
Thanks! 😊
I’m not sure Bluesky is built for videos as this looks even shonkier on here than Instagram…but this is me pulling the first test print of a new drypoint. A tricky plate to ink, but I’m pretty chuffed with it so far. #birdart
Brilliant!! A mammal I’ve never seen. Great footage too. 👌
Dipping into Saturday with this little drypoint today. A small edition of 10 done and drying. One of my favourite birds! #birds #birdart
Charcoal scribble stick on old marine chart off cuts. Rough and ready…A happy and messy couple of hours.
It’s been ace to hear back from the lovely folk who asked me to create special secret gifts for their loved ones at Christmas.

Alongside many mousie map antics, this WTE highland commission was a favourite to work on. Drawn in pen on vintage map. #birdart #birds
It’s always a real treat to loose myself in a larger illustration, and this character owl for my lovely friend @emlusby.bsky.social was an absolute delight to work on. #birdart
‘Tis now the season. 🍁🍂 and the perfect time to list this original Redwing drawing on this antique map of the Yorkshire Coast. #birds #birdart #birdmigration

Love your Rat @jennywrendraws.bsky.social
Aha!! He’s bearing up well! Thanks for visiting him! 😊
Thanks Phil. 😊
Ahh..the Yorkshire coast in autumn.
Last year I was lucky enough to see spectacular numbers of winter thrushes spiraling down out of the clouds @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social. I’m so grateful for these little mental treasures that I keep safe and unwrap when I need them most! #birds
WARNING - severe trip hazard alert!! 🐶.

Theres a reshuffle going down in the studio this morning. The Beaglebum is being decidedly unhelpful. Surely it’s time for her annual review? Her self motivation needs some work that’s for sure, and her health and safety training might need an update!
There is also a back catalogue of original pen illustrations now available in ye olde webbe shoppe. Multitudinous birds and beasties. Many with added nonsense. Made myself feel sick thinking of how many hours work there is in this little lot. Swing by and check them out ⬇️

I’ve added a few more pieces to the website this week including map drawings and original illustrations. Go take a peepers if you’ve a moment to spare. ⬇️ #birds #birdart #shetland

Time out from bird surveys here in Cumbria to breakfast with the local Red Squirrels...

Patiently waiting for cooler weather to get the Etching press out again….its been far far too long. Pens are great but sometimes I need to wield a pointy stick and a scalpel!! #birds #birdart #barnowl #drypoint
Attention all my bird-loving friends, I have good news - here's your new favourite book!
'The Rarity Garden - a journal of wild obsession on the Great White Cape of Flamborough', written by my dear friend Richard Baines, is an absolute joy. Here's why: northernrustic.blogspot.com/.../the-rari....
