The ACAB Zine Fest is this weekend! Come by the @imaginewaterworks.org table to get copies of the New Orleans Community Resource Guide (free) & the absolutely gorgeous Queer/Trans Guide to Storms (sliding scale). Saturday 11-6 at the Fred Hampton Free Store & Sunday 11-5 at Gasa Gasa.
Did you know you can order a copy of the zine anytime online?
Also available for purchase at The Imagination Farm in New Orleans. It’s cheaper to purchase here in person (sliding scale, minimum $12), as we make no profit and are just covering printing costs.
Atlanta is embracing a cheap, effective way to beat urban heat: ‘cool roofs’.
White or reflective roofs significantly reduce temperatures. Atlanta is the latest city to mandate their adoption.

This year we’ve had every conference proposal accepted & every grant proposal denied.
It’s clear progressives want to learn from trans Indigenous people but are too politically afraid to really roll w/us. We can’t help but wonder what happens when we’re no longer here or able to volunteer our time?
More info from IWW’s Déja Jones, who also painted the cover of our "Queer/Trans Guide to Storms":
We prefer to keep our eyes wide open — clear about the past but always focused on what gives us life, what we are building together.
So when we got the chance to partner on Operation Dream, visualizing what 20 years into the future could look like for New Orleans, it was a clear YES for us.
See yall TONIGHT @ 5-7pm for OPERATION DREAM
We knew we wanted to do something to acknowledge the upcoming anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, but doom and gloom has never sat well with us.
We already have folks afraid to ask for help, even in our community spaces, because of ICE. Now we will have folks afraid to ask for help in general. This Executive Order has real, immediate impacts. Pay attention.
Make no mistake – this is an attack on all disabled, trans, unhoused, and BIPOC people.
Disappearing "those who cannot care for themselves" is also an attack on mutual aid and on any movement or system of care that we have created to weather these hard times together.

“We stand firm in our joy and in our belonging even through the storm.” - Klie, @imaginewaterworks.org
I’m excited to share a new article I contributed to! Thank you to the wonderful @audreygray.bsky.social for lifting up these stories!

Hey, can you tell us more about this? We don't know you and we did not send yall any money. The account you have linked here is a fraudulent, spam account that has been impersonating us. Your website is also down -- who can we contact to talk to about this?

I’m so proud of the resource guide, and honored to get to partner with @imaginewaterworks.org to keep it going. Please use it and share it around, and if you are able to put a few dollars towards printing costs, by all means! Digital is great, but not everyone has easy internet access.
This is a good time to also mention that we have an IWW HURRICANE HUB.
The Hub has all of our guides, zines, checklists, and more to help keep you safe through the season. Resources are also translated into English, Spanish, and Vietnamese: www.imaginewaterworks.org/hurricane-hub/
Lastly, relationship is what has always kept us the most safe through storms of all kind – social, political, and climate related. That also starts with knowing who we are.
We are the *most active* on Instagram but will also update folks here as often as we can. See you in the streets!
We also do this out of protection for the land that we steward, knowing that we come from a place that is heavily gentrified and extracted from, even by those in the nonprofit sector. We refuse to be a part of that pattern. You should know folks – and know who is making the decisions.
We've chosen to remain very public, despite the danger it creates for our team, who are mostly trans and BIPOC.
We do this because we know the importance of being able to verify sources quickly when it comes to life or death information like disaster preparedness and relief.
You should never be confused about what we're doing or who we are (big red flag!). If it's confusing, it probably isn't us.
Our work is transparent, and our names and faces are... well, in more places than we are comfortable with, lol.
Our staff page is here. Anyone else claiming to be us is not us: www.imaginewaterworks.org/who-we-are/
On FB, IG, & Venmo we are @imaginewaterworks. Our FB group is "Imagine Mutual Aid (New Orleans)".
Our physical location is The Imagination Farm.
We can be reached at info@imaginewaterworks.org.
Okay, you got us. We're finally joining Bluesky before peak storm season!
We also unfortunately have impersonators of many kinds. So YES this is the real IWW account (.org in our name means it's verified by our website).
On other platforms, please make sure you're following *Imagine* Water Works.
A newsletter for other pissed off Louisianians (and Southerners generally) who are tired of having our region painted with a broad brush.
NSR is unashamedly left leaning, proudly southern, and coming soon :)

It’s true! A lot of us worked hard to bring the resource guide to y’all so please use it, share it, and support it!
If your group would like to print your own copies but may need to add logos or otherwise make edits for brand standards/etc, email klie@imaginewaterworks.org. We're happy to work with you to get this information to more people!
